Golf Course

The US has some of the best golf tournaments in the world. Three of the four Major Championships in the sport take place in the country, while the PGA Tour is the leading organization that every player wants to feature on.

Every golf course on the planet is unique in its own way and if you are planning a trip to one of them in the near future, here are three which should be on your bucket list.

Augusta National Golf Course

Home to the US Masters, Augusta National Golf Course is arguably the most famous in the world. Golf fans in their millions tune into the Major Championship every year and dream of one day attending the course in Georgia.

The course has many distinguished features including the Big Oak Tree, Ike’s Pond and Amen Corner. Augusta displays everything that is great about nature and being out walking a golf course.

One of the traditions of the US Masters is that the winner is presented with a Green Jacket following their success. They keep this jacket and are then invited back each year to take part in the winners’ dinner prior to the tournament.

This year’s US Masters is set to take place in November. Rory McIlroy is the +700 favorite in the golf betting as he looks to win the event for the first time and complete the Grand Slam in the sport.

Pebble Beach

California is a state packed with magnificent golf courses and some of the finest are at Pebble Beach on the Monterey Peninsula.

Pebble Beach has seven 18-hole golf courses and one 9-hole course. Given where they are located, there is the most spectacular backdrop on all of these courses for you to enjoy.

The AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am is the most famous tournament held at Pebble Beach. The venue was also used for the 2019 US Open where Gary Woodland was successful on the links course by three strokes.

If you do make a visit to Pebble Beach, be sure to check out the many landmarks in the area, including the Lone Cypress.

TPC Scottsdale

TPC Scottsdale is known for being the golf course with the best atmosphere in sport. It is often similar to what you would get at an American football or soccer match.

The Phoenix Open is an annual event on the PGA Tour which features at TPC Scottsdale. It attracts a huge crowd of around 20,000 golf fans attending each year.

The atmosphere goes up a level at the 16th hole where a stadium houses fans. Players enjoy the interaction with the crowd in the grandstand and even give away some of their own merchandise.

In 1997 Tiger Woods made a hole-in-one on this par-three hole to the delight of the crowd. Any shot which reaches the green is met with a huge cheer.

Enjoy your travels if you make it to one of the above three venues. Stay safe around the course and wear sunblock to protect yourself from the sun.
