My Blog Friend Really Spoils Me!

This post is way overdue as I owe Karen at Log Cabin Quilter a huge, huge thank you for not only the friendship we have developed over the past several years through blogging but also in our many, many emails sharing daily life's happenings.  Seriously, I think we email each other a little something just about daily!

Karen has gifting me so many things and I thought I'd show a small sampling of a few.  They are by no means small as she gifts me quilt tops!  Can you imagine letting go of this beauty after you put all that work into it?!  When Karen sent me the top she also included the backing so I just knew that this one would have to be quilted immediately.
Karen told me she whipped  the top below up to use some Halloween fabrics and get them out of her stash.  After receiving the top I started doing online searches for some Halloween fabrics for the back and found a great deal at The Fabric Shack for just $4.99 a yard.

Drats the picture turned! I wanted you to see the backing.  Perfect!!  I took the last stitch on the binding last night, washed, dried and crinkled today.  I talked with Karen about placing this one on Etsy.   We both agreed we didn't know how well a Halloween quilt would sell and would we get back what we put into it.  Any offers?  Perhaps a Fall bazaar quilt for a school fund raiser?
Here is another top from Karen made from Homespuns.  This one is set aside for a bit and will be revisited later as I think how I want to quilt and finish it.

What do you think about this snowman quilt?  Cute right?!!  I snagged the photo from Karen's blog.  I won the pattern last year from Geoff's Mom Quilts and sent it to Karen.  Care to guess who this quilt actually belongs too?  ME!!!  Sweet Karen set about making this quilt top for me!!  How's that for blogger friendship?!!
The day before July 4th I ended up in the ER with diverticuliltis.  Not fun!  It took me down for several days.  I did get several of my client's smaller quilts finished and mailed back out but haven't put together the photos for a blog post.  So I'll go ahead and show you what I've slowly been piecing when the urge to just sit and sew strikes. This is another gift from Karen is her UFO called, "Come On-A My House" by Miss Rosie Quilts.

We've had so much rain in the past three weeks that the builders couldn't get in the footings to start the work until this past Friday so I haven't much of anything to show besides the view of my standing in the middle of where my house will sit and looking out to the culdesac.
Here I'm standing at the end of the drive looking towards where the house will be.
One last photo of DH in his Toyota FJ40 affectionately known as the jalopy.  We've been having a grand time cruising out and about the country roads of North Carolina just enjoying the ride and time spent together!

Karen does such beautiful work and she is a wonderful friend as well. I love the halloween quilt, I think a lot of people would grab that one, really great colors and it will work for the fall season, not just halloween.

Such wonderful things she has made and gifted you--what a sweetheart! I've watched the making of the snowman quilt with great interest. As I told Karen, every time I see it, I smile. Didn't realize its destination was your house--when you finally have your house. : )

I Love this post!!! So much eye candy and news as well.

I've always been a fan of Karen's choice of quilts and applique. Lucky you to have been gifted with so many treasures and I know that you'll give them a good home.

And speaking of homes, what a beautiful setting for your new one. Any idea of how long it'll take until you're living in it? I'm excited and I can only imagine how you must feel.

Hope you're feeling better soon, Mary. Feeling poorly sucks!

Yes love Karen's quilts! She is very prolific also! You both make a grand team! We are hot n humid. Not any rain out here. Was some pop up storms around Suffolk/Chesapeake. Do hope the contractor can get on with it soon! Enjoy these nice days for ride outs too! Winter will be back before we know it!

I'm so sorry to hear about your trip to the ER. That is so painful. You are going to have to be very careful from now on!! You are so sweet... no wonder your bloggy friend gifted you such a special present.

Loris said...

Yes, she does spoil you :-) but I think it may be fair to say that she feels pretty blessed by the beautiful quilting you put on the ones she decides to keep! I have been inspired by Karen over and over and love what she shares with all of us! I love that house block quilt. And the snowman row quilt pattern had to come to my house to after I saw Karen working on it.
That rain needs to take a break so you can see some progress! It looks like such a wonderful place for your home.

That Karen is a sewing phenom. I read her blog and does fantastic work. I have been following her as she worked on the snowman top. Congrats on being the proud new owner.

Ive been reading Karen's blog she definitely is talented. I dont have a lick of applique skills though I certainly have tried. I have been having stomach issues since 2011. I give you my sympathies.

Those are fantastic quilt tops in the photos. It must have been amazing to have received them as a gift. The Halloween top really looks like it is versatile enough to be able to be used as a quilt throughout the whole fall. That snowman quilt is adorable, it is really great to hear about blogging building such good friendships.
