Joining In On This One!

A view from out the storm door.  I'm so tired of the rain already!  Seriously; the last Saturday in July too!  This crazy rain came roaring in with plenty of thunder and lightening.  I wasn't able to quilt for fear my machine would get fried.  SO.....
I decided to join in on this new QAL with Melissa at Happy Quilting.  It isn't just the star quilt that has attracted me but how many options we have as for the size, choosing fabrics that she calls same layout or scrappy layout and then the fun way she has scheduled each week's assignment on a Monday.  The blocks won't be made one at a time but more of an assemble line type sewing.  She mentions PRIZES!!  Did that catch your attention?
Here is my cutting assignment.  On Monday she will be posting our half-square triangle assignment.  I've decided on the 16" block 3 x 3 layout.  Be sure to check out her handy charts to see what size you may want to make.

This is an older Nancy Halvorsen line of fabric called, "Star of Wonder" that I've had in my stash since 2007 or so.   Did you catch that Bari?  Bari is my friend who I quilt for and every quilt she sends me is made from Nancy Halvorsen fabrics.

On September 16th will be the Star Surround Parade and hopefully mine will be in the bunch!  Will you join us?

That sounds like a fun quilt a long and I love the fabrics you picked out. We had rain for two days and today I got out to paddle and it wiped me out. Tomorrow more rain, ugh.

Prepping fabric is a good way to get that sewing fix during a storm. Great fabrics for this QAL, too!!

Great fabrics! I'm taking a break from my cutting to drool over everyone else's fabric choices. I'm going to start out with the 3 X 3 layout, but may go up to the 4 X 4. Looking forward to Monday.

I hope your rain stops soon! I love that Nancy Halvorsen line. I made a EPP star with that lime green just today. I had no idea the fabric was that old. :0) I can't wait to see your stars progress!

It would feel a miracle if it ever rained like that around here--it's been years since I've seen it! But thunder and lightning I can always do without :)

Pretty fabrics and a new project are a great distraction !

Oh man! Sorry to hear that rain keeps coming! You will have ducks swimming in your foundation :-/
This quilt along in very tempting! Melissa has really outdone herself with all the options and instructions. I need a special baby quilt for the end of September so I'll need to check my stash or go shopping :-) I love your choices!

What a fun SAL. I'm restraining myself (I know, it's a miracle!).
I love rain and thunder and lightening--we have seen so little of it this year. Wish we could take it off your hands. : )

I won't be making it but what a fabulous quilt, I'll love seeing yours come together.

We've been blessed with rain here several times in the last week and it's so wonderful to see the grass be green again. I'm sure we'll be back to our normal August heat index soon but for now I'm enjoying the respite from the heat. Love your fabric choices - wish I could join in but too many family obligations right now are calling me away from the sewing room. blessings, marlene
