My New Vintage Sewing Machine

Several weeks ago this vintage machine appeared in a Craig's List ad that said they needed the machine gone by Thursday or it would be donated.  Because I didn't need to pay for another machine I just watched the ad and on that Thursday sent an email asking if they would like to donate it to me since I was a quilter who also taught others to sew.  The reply came that the machine may have been sold but they certainly would keep me in mind.

I was at the beach last week (reason for my silence in blogland) and while away I received an email that said the sale fell through and if I wanted the machine it was mine.  I picked it up yesterday and met Joe who told me it had belonged to his wife who passed away six years ago from cancer.  He held on to it thinking his daughter may want it but she doesn't care to sew.  Joe and his new love of two years recently combined households and felt it was time to let the machine go.  He was so happy to give it to somebody who quilts and sews like his wife had.
This machine is a Sears Kenmore made in 1972.  It's a fantastic running machine and was very well cared for.  I'm so sentimental...just happy it found another good home.
So while at the beach last week we were out on a day trip and when we saw this telephone booth wondered..."Does it really work?"  I mean, how often do you see them these days?  So while DH confirms it did have a dial tone a car pulls up and the guy yells out, "Hey, do you need to use my cell phone?"  OMGosh was that ever hilarious!

Tomorrow is the day!  A simple reminder to please follow me on Bloglovin.  I've got a tab on the right side of my blog for you.

Schnibble Dulcinea

Here is my version of Schnibble pattern, "Dulcinea."  I added thin sashing and corner post along with a changing the borders.   I honestly thought I'd have time before the parade of Schnibbles to custom quilt it. just isn't going to happen so I present to you my unfinished top that was nicely placed outside on the grass for a photo shoot.  Yep...less than 30 second photo shoot before this happened.

This week has been filled with lots of exciting things to include this!  It's really happening!  Our land is being cleared in preparation to build our new home.  That's serious equipment taking out some big trees!  Quite impressive!!!

A Beautiful Quilt

There have been times before I quilt a top that I need to use a sticky lint roller to remove loose threads.  I've also found it useful for any threads left after I have to "unsew" any areas.  The threads on the roller are not from this quilt but one that had a lot of homespuns.  Oooo those homespuns are especially good "shedders."

This one is a must share quilt!!  Mary (no blog) and mom to Charlotte the kitty (if you remember that story!) sent me this gorgeous top to quilt.
It is a pattern from Carrie Nelson of Miss Rosie's Quilt Co. called, "Elizabeth."
I just love the coral pinks she used and I wish I would have thought to get a better photo of some of the backgrounds that have a variety of text in them.  Mary wanted the quilt to have a romantic swirly sort of feel.  I sent her an email with a photo of a quilt I had quilted in the past with a Feathered Roses design and she said, "That's it!"  I must admit that the quilting fits this quilt perfectly!

I'll BEE Quilting

The above photo belongs to Carrie from A Passion for Applique blog.  Carrie participated in the free Row along designed by Lori Holt of Bee in My Bonnet blog.  You can read more about it at Carrie's blog.
Carrie wanted the quilting to be open with good size bees all over her top.  Check out the label!  It's also a good size label and what I thought was a really cool idea is that Carrie appliqued this onto her backing before I quilted the top.
I'm showing the back here so you can see bee quilting better.
I loved the background print with the bees in it!!  How sweet is that?!
Here's a little peek of Lesley's Schnibble "Gentle Art" that she had me quilt with thread spools and needles.  I have a special offer going until the end of June to quilt your Schnibbles Gentle Art quilt with the same quilting motif.  You can read about it here at this blog post.

I'm All Over The Place!

There are so many things that I keep thinking I will put on the blog to share and then I get busy with other things and never get back here to share what I thought I wanted to share.  Now my mind is drawing a blank!
The above photo is how far along I've gotten on the house pattern gifted to me from Karen.  I'm really liking them and need to get back to it.  I have many other distractions in quilting and my real life home building plans.  I feel like a dog seeing a SQUIRREL!  I mean seriously...I've already whipped up my June Schnibble called Dulcinea and it just needs quilted.  I'll share that later though.  See what I mean...I jumped from houses to pinwheels and the houses are much more me!
Client quilts is another that I've been horrible about sharing.  This pattern is called Jellystone and quilted with maple leaves for Nicole.
I love, love, love the colors and those bears paws.  She used both cottons and beautiful me!
This is another gorgeous quilt belonging to Nicole called Shiloh.  Nicole simply wanted an all over design called Harvest Time.  This one is a beauty and her piecing was absolute perfection!
I'm unsure if you can see the pumpkins and leaves quilting but oh so cute and perfect for that Autumn quilt.
The goat is for Shelley.  Shelley and I've been blogging friends for years and have bantered back and forth on just how much our yards could use a goat.  I just had to make her this little guy and snapped a photo before I was finished sewing binding down and then after I mailed it to her I realized I'd forgotten to get a better picture.
To make this little picture quilt easier to hang I stitched two corners on to the back before sewing down my binding. I'm off to review the surveyor's plan of house placement on the lot....SQUIRREL!

For Me...An Easier Way

The Schnibble pattern for June's parade is Dulcinea.  There are four sections to be trimmed down before  sewing them together to make the pinwheel block. The above photo shows you how the pattern directions guide you to trim to 3.5" unfinished.
I'm thankful I have this ruler to get the same results.  I'm even more thankful I remembered I had it because this is a much easier way for me.  Just thought I'd share.

Little Lady Patchwork

Stefanie has the cutest online shop called Little Lady Patchwork.  I just love her bright and cheery lady bug logo!  Her shop carries bright and cheerful prints; the type of fabrics perfect for my doll bed quilts too!  When I saw that she was having a giveaway for three people to win a bit of the new line called Scrumptious I quickly left my name for a chance and LOOK what I won!
Aren't these just perfect for a sweet little doll quilt for the doll bed I got two weeks ago or so?
In the package today was an additional surprise of another new release from market.  Oh..these are so me!
 These are me....
....and oh my...these are me too!  I love everything Jo Morton and these new prints are right up my alley!

Thank you Stefanie for spoiling me!  I think I'll do some quilting for Stefanie as a thank you....what do you say Stefanie?!

I hope you'll take a moment to visit her online shop and visit her blog here.  Don't forget to follow and/or bookmark her so you won't miss out on sales and giveaways!

Quilting Special for your Schnibbles Gentle Art!

In my previous post I share with you my version of the Schnibbles pattern "Gentle Art."  I quilted it with spools and needles in the center section but from looking at that photo I couldn't see the quilting clearly so I borrowed a photo from my archives of spool quilts to show the quilting better.

Today the parade of Schnibbles "Gentle Art" quilts will be revealed on Sherri and Sinta's blogs.  I'm looking forward to seeing spools galore!  Anyway, it got me thinking that now would be a great time to offer quilting the above design on your Schnibbles quilt!  I will quilt your "Gentle Art" quilt with this quilting motif for $45 and will include the batting and thread in that price.  It has been a few years since I offered a special on quilting and my offer is good through end of June 2013.  Feel free to email me away from comment area if you are interested at
