Some of my boxes have been through several moves over the years.

Mary, Mary, Mary! I'm so happy for you guys that you sold your house! However, I feel for you with the packing. I'm looking forward to buying our first home, but not to the packing. We are so used to having the military move us, that I'm sure we will feel like you do right now.

I haven't blogged in so long that I'm not sure I will remember how. I also haven't done much in the way of quilting in awhile. Today, I finally got my Juki sewing machine out to play with it. I ordered it when we were in Germany the last time. I didn't unpack it in Kansas, nor did I unpack our newest printer. Well, guess what the packers didn't pack in the boxes with either of them? The electrical cords!! ILuckily, I did find the cord for the sewing machine, but still no luck with the printer cord.

Good luck with your packing and the rental home looks gorgeous. I can't wait to see how you decorate it and add your personal touches to it. Hugs, Dana

Luck with your move!

Having moved from a home we lived in for almost 20 years -only 4 years ago- I said it was the hardest thing (physically and emotionally) to do. I feel for you, especially having to live in a temporary home before you can settle in. BUT, Keep thinking of that sweet place you are having built, it will be heavenly when you get to move in there!!

Boy can I ever relate to what you're going through having done a long distance move a short two years ago.

Can you see the light at the end of the tunnel yet?

I don't envy the work of moving, but if I were close enough, I'd volunteer to come over and help you. This time of year makes moving a bit more difficult. Baby yourself when you get the chance.

Look at it as an adventure - lots things to look forward to. Having said that I don't envy the packing and moving part - but this will give you options for what you decide down the road. It's exhausting - but exciting :). Congrats on the sale of the house.

Hugs - Karen

That is not the fun part, finding where everything is and where to put it, lol.

I only see good times for you. I am one of the few who love to move. It's always a new adventure. Looking at houses on Zillow is one of my favorite no brainer things to do. I know.... I am pathetic. Just wish my husband felt the same way. Maybe because he always does the heavy lifting!! Good luck in your move.

Congratulations, I'm so happy for you. I look forward to all your exciting adventures on your new home. I know moving is a chore, but very necessary to moving on. Isn't it amazing how we can have so much stuff, all important of course!

I can so relate!!! Last summer does not seem like very long ago for me and my big move. Yuck. Seeing all those boxes brings back the scent of cardboard. My stomach is clenching just looking at your photo. Good luck! It will eventually be over and you can quilt again.... Really!

Congratulations on your house sale! I know what you mean about boxes making several moves. I have all of my original boxes for a number of items. One of my sewing machines was originally mailed to me and since then has been moved 6 times! Alas, my husband wants to sell the house so we're in the process of getting it show ready. Since my husband retired from the military 3 years ago this will be the first time we'll be arranging any moving ourselves. Not looking forward to this one!

Wow Just look at all those boxes ! We moved from our home of 27 years 8 years ago and after that I will not be moving again. We sold alot of things before we moved and so glad we did. It will all be worth it in the end :-D

Soon you will be all cozy in your new surroundings, quilting away to your heart's content!

Good luck on your move. We are retired military..24 years. Some of our boxes have 4-5 stickers on them...and haven't been open in that many moves! Now that we are done moving, I have started opening them up to see what's inside! Packers will put what ever is in the room into a box, so it has been interesting! I hope the move goes smoothly and you are quilting again soon!

I know you'd rather be quilting but you'll be back to it soon after you get settled in your home. Hope all goes smoothly for you with your move.

Can't wait until all of this upheaval is over for you and you get to relax and sew!

I will be watching and thinking about you the next few months as we decide what to do too, a move is in our future too...
dreading it already but I am glad it will be our last move for a long time!

Good things to come.
And just think: As you unpack boxes, whenever that might be, it'll be like finding new treasures for your sewing room.
I'm finding new treasures in my Magic Closet every time I "dig".
Good vibes continuing your way. You're thought of regularly.

You still have your Pfaff box! I wouldn't know where to store moving boxes so I don't have anything but a few small boxes around. And those are mostly for mailing goodies off.

Hope you can get back to quilting soon!

Good Luck with the moving. My heart goes out to you. I just finished moving out of my 3 bedroom home. Just think of it as a great chance to purge alot of things you have been wanting to for years. I gave away about 75% of all my things to charity. Great way to clean out things I have been hanging onto that I haven't used for years.
No I can get down to business in my new home with a new lease on life. It will be worth it in the end, trust me.

I dread the day I move...40 some years in the same place and we are packed to the gills. I hope you have an easy move. Hugs

Valerie Z said...

While moving is never easy, in the end, you will have your dream home and a room to call all your own!!! Wishing you lots of hours of quilting and playing with your fabric once you are settled! Don't forget to take a moment to rest while boxing and moving-you don't want to injure your back again! A cup of hot coffee works wonders...or beverage of your choice! Sending hugs you way! I really, really, want your closet you are leaving behind!

By the time I finished packaging, moving and unpacking, my hands and fingers were in very tough shape. Moving is a very hard workout. Hope all of your things make the move without mishap and you are settling into your rental without too many challenges. Who knows, by this time next year, you could be living in your new house! Hang in there. :-D We are still in CA and will be for another week, then heading up the coast with Vancouver BC has our destination. Then ?

I think this is the hardest part! Hang in there. Small steps toward a happy goal!

Oh dear...it looks like such a chore. I hope you are back to quilting again soon.

I wish you all the best with your move. And hope you'll be back sewing soon.

Wow, looks like you're making great progress. I'm glad you're not moving very far and will be back to quilting in no time.

Thanks for the heads up Mary. What a sweet story of lady bug luck! I'm happy for the couple buying your home, and I'm glad you found a nice place to live. Moving is the worst! I have to do that one of these days too! Good luck with it all. Keep in touch!

Oh wow! But all that work will be so worth it! Hope you get to quilt soon! (hope I get to my machine soon, too!)
