Celebrating Me!

Yesterday was a day to celebrate the birth of me.  For the past few weeks little parcels have made their way to my mailbox for either birthday or Christmas.  Some gifts received are "dual" holidays so I haven't opened those yet.  I'm really, really good about not opening my surprises until the day (unlike a few of you and you know who you are!)  The above is a very special ice cream cake that hubby ordered and surprised me with.  He was disappointed that the "cat" wasn't larger.  It's my favorite seasonal ice cream Winter White from Baskin-Robbins.  If you like chocolate covered cherries you must try Winter White.
I spent the day lounging about then ventured out to the antique mall downtown.  It had been quite sometime and I was impressed with the improvements and all those shops!  I hardly made it through the one shop before it was time to go to dinner.  Here is one of my finds.  The tag said it was for a candle but I thought even flowers or greenery would be pretty too.  I see alot of possibilities and for only $8 bucks not too shabby.  Anne came to mind when I purchased this piece....I wonder what she would do with it?

My birthday gifts were opened last night after returning home from dinner.  I'm truly spoiled by so many friends (and you know who you are).  I've still got photos to take and thank you notes to write....not to mention getting out of these PJs and hitting the grocery store today.  SO....I promise to have some sort of blog post later to show/share my pretties and properly give thanks to my very special friends.  Thank you, thank you and thank you!  You all know who you are!!

Happy Birthday, Mary! I have three friends with birthdays close to Christmas and it is so hard to celebrate properly. My nephew was born Christmas day...poor fellow never has a birthday party. His parents have learned to throw his party in January after school resumes.

Hey Girl! Hope your day was everything you wanted it to be. Didn't call ya because I knew you'd be out having fun....plus Jeff and I are both sick with awful colds. Might not be any Christmas with family for us...we have to stay away from dad with all of these germs!

Can't wait to see your gifts! :o)

XOXO,

Cyndi

The cake sounds yummy. Pop a piece in the mail and send it to me. LOL! It would be one ooey gooey mess when it arrived.
I can see why you liked the piece you purchased. I am not very good at taking something and turning it into a lovely display piece but I think you can get plenty of advise from some of our talented at decorating blog friends.

It sounds like you had the perfect birthday! I'm glad! :-) Love the wrought candle holder~ it would look cool with greenery in it, or cranberries and a candle; so many possibilities. Have a happy day!

Sounds like you had a wonderful birthday. Nice Antique store find, I like the idea of using it for a flower vase. Your cake is so cute.

Happy Birthday, Mary! Hope your new year is as sweet as your day sounded. The cat on your cake reminds of Kliban the Cat...the grey tabby that wore red tennis shoes :-)
