Fresh Forest, Oh That Deer and Peeping Tom!

Fresh Forest is a quilt designed by Corey Yoder that I quilted this past summer.  Actually I quilted this one twice for Corey out of two different fabric lines.  Corey needed this quilt in a rush for publication in the Holiday issue of Stitch Craft Create.  I hadn't realized the magazine was published and on newstands until recently.  You can see more of the quilt here at Corey's blog.
The neighborhood deer visits often.  I've been told a neighbor bottle fed him and this is why he is so friendly.  I do worry about him once he is older and fattened up. While I am not a hunter, I can't say the same for those living around me.
I have no clue who this cat belongs to.  He has been running around our neighborhood for over a year and I will see him not only on my front porch but on other porches too.  He shows up for food since he knows that I feed the black female cat I call, Meow (she is fixed).  You may remember that she used to show up here with another cat and beagle a few years back.  Well, she never left and I pretty much kept her because she is a great hunter on the yard's voles.  She "tolerates" his coming around.  I've never touched him because I don't need to get attached.  I have however named him Boyfriend just so he has some sort of name I guess.
Every now and then Boyfriend peeps in my window into our kitchen area like a Peeping Tom!  It freaks me out if it is night time and all I see is the glow of his eyes.  I'm feeling like the animal whisperer or something.

Even though you "quilted in a hurry" it never looks like it was done in a hurry. I have to admit that sometimes the quilting I see on quilts in magazines leaves me thinking, seriously? They thought that was a good presentation to feature in a magazine? I know they are focused on the piecing, but the quilting makes a difference to me in how I perceive the beauty of the pattern.
You animal stories make me smile.

You are destined to be a cat owner, whether they get in the house or not. Boyfriend is super cute, I'd keep him around! Love your quilt, I ditto Janets comments.

Beautiful quilt, I love the quilting you've done. You are like the St. Francis of the quilting world. You could rename your blog Quilt Hollow and Animal Haven!

The deer is so sweet, but hard if it gets too used to people during hunting season. What a cute kitty, we have ones that do that too. I think they are strays and dreaming of coming into our warm house with my kitties.

Apparently you are the talk of the animal neighborhood. At least it is in a good way! If they didn't like you, they wouldn't keep coming around!

Such a beautiful quilt, Mary. I actually picked up that magazine a week or so ago just because I like that quilt.

That deer is precious. I would so love to have one that close. It is so easy to get attached to such cute animals.

OMG...Boyfriend looks just like Siddi! The white chin makes the cheeks look like a muttonchop beard - or that is what I see when I look at Siddi. Good looking cat...hehehe.

At one time we had two female cats (both fixed) and a 'boyfriend' would show up...look in the window and then spray!! Was a terrible stink!! I was forever hosing off the window...then the Pinesol would come out...followed by Windex. Got to be a daily thing!! I hated that cat!! Anyway we finally moved...I think I would be shooing that BF away...even though he is cute!! :O0

Animals can sense who their friends are as well as foe and you are definitely their friend, Mary.

I can never see enough of your quilting. Great job, my friend!

That would freak me out too!!! He must like what he sees inside.

Does your little deer eat the plants in your yard too? It would be fun to see him so close to the house.

Beautiful quilting on your quilt. I'll bet it looked fabulous in the magazine.

Wonderful quilt!

Seems you're a magnet to lonely animals, Mary! Our next door neighbor's cat is very friendly and will wind through my legs and meow when I water the front flowerbed. I heard he accompanies their two sons to early morning daycare up the street and waits for them there most of the day until they come home from school.

How can you resist that cute face. I'm a softie when it comes to cats.

Oh, he's a little button buck, isn't he? They're so sweet at that age! Beautiful quilting on your piece -- beautiful. Quilted in a hurry, huh? I should be so lucky! Your little Boyfriend is quite handsome!! :)

Oohh, love the little deer! I'm with you: he probably won't come to a good end, being so tame. He's beautiful, though.

We have more dogs than cats in this neighborhood, and a couple of them are regular visitors. I'd take them in, too, if I could, but hubby would never agree. I know they have homes, but they aren't cared for as well as they should be.

beautiful quilting. The deer is just so sweet! If only you could get him to pose on the lawn for Christmas.
The boyfriend is a cutie too. My orange striped cat used to visit my neighbors patio everyday in Illinois. Luckily they didn't mind :)
