Christmas Through The Year

Here's a small sampling of gift quilts that I've been working on this past year.  I'm linking up at Darlene's blog for the finale.  Thank you both Darlene and Cheryl for hosting this past year!
My Christmas tree skirt is half-way pieced and the fabric is a good quality flannel.  I may not cut through the center to wrap around the tree but rather have our tree sit on top.  (can't see way under the tree area anyway)   Also I am debating if I really want to add batting since it just takes more space in the holiday storage box right?  I'm thinking of keeping this very simple, it's just a tree skirt that will be seen maybe three weeks if that and then of course Santa's gifts on top.

Love the wreath tree skirt. What an adorable pattern. I made a Halloween table topper that I backed and didn't add any batting. It looks fine but I roll it around a large tube with other small quilts to store so there are no fold lines in it.

Oh my goodness, Mary those quilted gifts are fabulous! Some very lucky recepients.

And, your tree skirt is beautiful. I'm not sure I would cut a hole in the center either. I like that idea. :-)

Thank you so much or playing with Cheryl and I this year - especially our final month. :-)

Regardless what you made it for or how you use it, it is turning out adorable. I have always liked that pattern. I'm sure whatever you decide will be the right answer.

WOW ! What wonderful gifts you have made :-D What very lucky poeple to receive these quilts !

That wreath quilt is ADORABLE ! I think that is a great idea not cutting a hole in the center and to set the tree on it. LOVE IT !!

This is such a great design for a tree skirt; you are moving along quickly.
So many completions is inspiring!

Am just loving that tree skirt! What a clever design!

Love your tree skirt! I too would have a hard time cutting into it. It would make a gorgeous table topper.

I saw that wreath tree skirt pattern yesterday at BJ's and thought it was beautiful. Was it difficult to construct?

Nice little quilts and such a great gift idea. I gave that tree skirt pattern, yours is do cute. I've always had a fondness for pinwheels. I know you'll come up with a good idea for your tree skirt. I love my nice tree skirt I made in July. It looks great under my tree. Thanks again for the wonderful quilting.

I like that tree skirt! It's really cute!
At my house, the totes seem to shrink after I take things out to decorate, because they never fit everything back into them. Even without batting!

YOu are moving right along on your tree skirt. And look at all the little quilt. The snowman one is adorable.

What a great stack of quilty gifts Mary. Love the tree skirt you are making - gorgeous!

Love the skirt too~ I don't think I would cut the whole either. Maybe just use another layer of flannel for the batting? Your quilted gifts are just wonderful! I hope your family and friends appreciate your gorgeous work. :-) Have a great weekend!

Cheryl said...

Wow, you did a great job at making gifts throughout the year! Good job. Tree skirt is looking good.

Oh wow!! You are done!! Lovely things too! And your Peppermint skirt is adorable...too nice to throw on the floor!! I'm thinking table topper....?!!

You have made a lot of progress on the tree skirt. A good choice for your holiday decorating. Sew fast!

Your gift quilts are just so precious...each one so lovely! And your quilting just sets them off so well. I have never seen a tree skirt in this is beautiful, and I like your idea of the tree sitting on top.

The Christmas tree skirt is going to be very cute! I'd hate to hide it under a tree.

Bari Jo said...

Wow - look at you GO! Yay you! I love that little snowman quilt that looks like an ornament in blue - so cute! Your tree skirt is going to be great!

What a "loverly" pile of little quilty gifts. Oh, I wish I had been able to join in on this through the year. Must be a good feeling to have those all ready to give.
LOVE the tree skirt. It is charming. I can see the wisdom in not using batting, but would that mean it isn't graced with your beautiful quilting? I often use good quality flannel as batting in table runners. You can still quilt it, but it doesn't take up a lot of room to store. : )

Cheryl said...

Look at that wonderful pile of Christmas goodies...what wonderful gifts. You have inspired me to work on my tree skirt....think that will be a January project for me!! Thanks for being part of CTTY.

I love the Christmas Wreath. I don't think I could use it as a tree skirt though. I'd be tempted to quilt it and use it as a sofa throw, wall quilt or something like that.

Carol said...

What an amazing stack of quilted gifts...I love your tree skirt...Oh I know I wouldn't be able to cut that up to the middle...I think leaving it whole and setting the tree on top is a great will be easier to bind that way too!

Melanie said...

You are so smart...And per usual, I'm scrambling. 3 projects to get made in about 2 weeks--- Yuck!

Barb said...

wow great pile of little quilts!

Michelle May said...

Looooooooooove that tree skirt! So fabulous!

What fun Christmas gifts, Mary. You did a great job throughout the year.

The tree skirt is looking awesome. I can see that there is a lot of thought going into it as to where the fabrics are going to go to line up with the next ones. Putting the tree on top of it is a good idea.

Kaaren said...

I might as well say "ditto" to Darlene's comment.

Gorgeous stuff there, my friend and I'm in love with the tree skirt.

Loris said...

Don't you love making those little quilts. Like instant gratification :-) They look wonderful as does your Peppermint Twist. The idea of using flannel for a batting layer sounds like a good one. Happy December!
