Oh Deer and Oh Dear!

Yesterday we had an unexpected visitor.  This little deer just came walking on up to my husband as he was working on his jalopy.
It wasn't interested in the apple but it sure loved grazing in my yard.  The deer even followed me around the yard and then across the street to my neighbors.  It enjoyed my scratching behind her ears and enjoyed munching down on the neighbor's flowers before strolling down to the next yard.

On another note I want to let my customers and friends know that I will be traveling to mom's house in California soon.  Mom tripped over the cat box last weekend and fractured her ankle in two places; now requires surgery.  My brother has been a huge help to mom, though must get back to work and my other siblings work as well.   I'm waiting to hear the date of her surgery and will likely be flying out the first week in October to help her for a month or so.

I've contacted my customers who have tops here and am thankful I have the best customers who completely understand and say they will wait for my return.  My husband will be here holding down the fort and likely enjoy a little of his own "me" time!  I'll post again a time or two before I go.  I'll have to get some projects together to take with me.  Mom isn't a quilter so she doesn't have mat, cutter, rulers however does have a sewing machine.  I'm thinking if I can cut fabric for next month's Schnibble "Bounce" I might be able to piece that.

Sweet meeting with the deer! Would love to mingle with them. They all run around here...especially with the dogs around. They like to eat my flowers though :-)
Hope your mom heals quickly. She has some good children helping her out!

Clearly, this little deer KNEW she would be safe coming to visit you....must have heard good things from the neighbourhood pets. (You know, the ones who like to stop by for a nap) LOL

Sorry to hear about your Mom's injury. Hopefully she will be on the mend very soon.

Sorry to hear about your mom. Hope the surgery goes well and recovery is quick and easy.
Even if Mom isn't a quilter, perhaps if you contact a local guild - someone might be able to loan you a few basic items to help you through your visit. . . just a thought.

Looks like a baby deer, cute. I'm sure your mom will be happy you are coming to help out. Great idea to pre-cut your bounce quilt and take it with you for sewing. I'll be doing Bounce too.

I will pray for speedy healing for your Mom.

I wonder what happened to your little deer's mother, what a sweet little face on that fawn; we have plenty of deer here but never that close or tame.

Safe travels, Mary!

So sorry that your mom hurt herself, but I bet she'll enjoy having some time to spend with you. What a small miracle that the deer came walking right up to you and your husband! God sends us gifts every day if we're only open to them.
Safe travels!

I am so sorry to hear about your mom. Wishing her a very speedy recovery.

Taking Bounce along, precut and ready to sew is a fabulous idea.

She is too cute...and too tame. I wonder where her mama is.

I hope your mama is doing better soon. I would think the surgery won't be as bad as having to confess to breaking your ankle tripping over a cat box. ;o)

Do you think you will be able to go to PIQF while you are in CA? If so, email me. Maybe we can meet up.

Isn't it unusual for a deer to be so unafraid of people? And to be alone?? Whenever we see them, they are scampering away. Hope your Mom does well with her surgery.

Hugs and prayers to your mom and your whole family. Does this mean hubby won't be filling in for you and getting those quilts quilted while you are gone? Love that little deer - wonder where he came from and why so friendly? You may have a new pet!

What a post! The deer is darling. I can't believe how forward he is. I would have expected him to be more skittish. Super cute. Love how he passes on the apple, but helps himself to everyone's flowers. Cute!

On the other end of the spectrum, sorry to hear about your mother. I hope she heals well and quickly. Enjoy your time in California. Time to pull out some scraps and chain sew!
