How About A Bit of Plaid?

Just finished Laree's (no blog) Scrappy Plaid quilt with Deb's Feathers. As I was quilting this one I recognized alot of my own plaid stash in the quilt.

Tomorrow I'm scheduled for a root canal. The upper left teeth had been hurting me off and on for years. My dentist told me it wasn't my teeth and sent me to ENT Doc who also sent me to an Allergist for testing. Early this year I received a sinus surgery just to "open up" area to see if that helped. Well....long story shortened, my tooth died. I'm pissed to put it lightly as I have made numerous runs and at great expenses to figure out why I was in pain. Last week I went back to the same dentist office (though saw the other dentist in the office) because I had a sore above the tooth that wouldn't go away and hurt. Low and behold....it is the tooth troubles!! As always...Nervous Nelly here.

Boy oh boy, what's the deal with teeth? I had the same issue, went to the dentist several times and spent to have a tooth filling replaced, but it still hurt. After several weeks/months over a weekend no less I started having terrible pain. Ended up with two teeth abcessed and had to have TWO root canals...you can guess how much that cost! Hope it goes well.

Root canals are not as bad as they make them out to be, more the inconvenience of having your mouth open for long periods while they do the work, lol.

Wonderful quilt, was just looking at something like that for quilt ideas for my bed.

Oh, yes, to the plaids; they look great with the solid reds.
Good luck tomorrow. Hopefully this will put an end to it!

I shall share with you my mindset when I got my one root canal. I was terrified, but once the novacaine part was over, it wasn't so bad. It didn't hurt, but it was like any other dental work--I stress a bit and get a headache. But as I was sitting there and the doctor was doing his thing, I played the game: Here I am getting a root canal, but at least I'm not __________. I tried out various scenarios which weren't bad, like "at least I'm not on a 6 hour airplane flight." But of course, the winner was "at least I'm not at the GYN--I still have all my clothes on!"

Do you want the "rest of the story?" Now when I'm at the GYN, looking at the ceiling, I tell myself "at least I'm not getting a root canal!" LOL

Good luck. It really isn't too bad!

It's always something. Would be nice if one doc could figure out the issue versus going through all you did. I've never had a root canal so I can't speak to it. Hope you have a speedy recovery!

The quilt and quilting is beautiful; as always! :)

Good luck with your tooth.

Oh my, please have someone drive you in and home again. You may want to take an aspirin or Tylenol 3 before going in. Do they use nitrous oxide (laughing gas)? It's really worth it to pay the extra fee for it. Also, take an MP3 player with music or a book. It really helps take your mind off things. Take care.

Oooh I'm sorry about the root canal. But I had that done 2 weeks ago and it went well. I think now with such advances in dentistry, a good dentist can really make it close to pain free. (and I am the biggest baby when it comes to the dentist)
Does that mean you didn't need the sinus surgery?!
Love the plaids!

I feel your pain, Mary. I just dread going to the dentist. I had some work done last Thursday. Actually, root canals have come a long way and it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. Good luck!

Love those plaids--and that is a pretty feather pattern to play counterpoint to all the straight lines.
Oh, that is no fun about the tooth. I have one that has bothered me for years and no one can say why. I just keep waiting for the day it has to be pulled. Good luck!

I'll be virtually holding your hand through the whole procedure, Mary. Just squeeze hard when you need to.

I can picture the plaid quilt in a cottage or cabin by a lake. Love it!

I'll be thinking of you tomorrow. Be strong.

bummer...sorry you have had such a run around. that's probably worse than what you will have to go through tomorrow. Hope you recover easy and fast. Motrin and ice packs are great for dental recovery. Been through a lot of it. LOVE ice packs!
The Plaid is gorgeous. Love the feathers on it too.
Thanks for the snail mail! It is such a treat :-) I'll keep you in my prayers for a smooth day tomorrow.

Such a beautiful plaid quilt...and the wonderful quilting makes it even more special! Sorry to hear that you are having a root canal..but all will be well, try not to worry. I always tell my patients that the anticipation is much worse than the procedure....Hope that all will be resolved with this root canal. Hugs!

Oh dear, it sounds nasty and so frustrating. It sounds like that sore was an abscess. I hope you're over the trauma by now. I do love those plaids and the quilting looks great, so textural.

Great plaid quilt! Love all the feathers.

Crossing my fingers that your procedure is done smoothly without a lot of postop fuss!

You always take great photos that show us your quilting designs clearly. Thanks for those. This design is a nice complement to the plaid fabrics.

A couple root canals were the key for me getting some long-term pain to finally end. Sorry you had to run around so much before this diagnosis was made. I really like JoAnne's suggestion. Sounds like a good way to put our lives in perspective.
