No Ordinary Monday

So my day begins with tree trimmers taking out several of the neighbor's trees.

They also took out my mailbox! While I'm upstairs quilting I hear a big bang and sure enough the tree did not fall according to the plan and now I've got a tree in my driveway and one of the limbs smacked the mailbox. On Mondays my car is normally parked at the end of the drive while my DH works on his jalopy on the driveway in front of the garage. DH had to work today so thankfully my car was safe in the garage. I now have a new mailbox.

Then just when I'm coming down to the last bit of thread on a spool the mailman rings with my delivery! I'm back in business.

This box doesn't look very colorful does it? These are the colors that I tend to use the most. It's time to get back to quilting.

So lucky your car was in the garage! Whew!!
I've been trying a few different threads lately to see what I like best for FMQ. I have purchased a spool or two of that type you show, now I just need to give it a whirl.
I guess a new mailbox can be a nice thing if you don't have to pay for it! : )

It sure is good your car was safe and not in the path of that tree. I see you use superior threads , they are beautiful to use .

Oh my goodness... those tree trimmers don't seem to know what they're doing, do they? So glad your car (and house) weren't damaged!!!

Glad the car was safe!! Is the new mailbox a "neat" one? Shaped like a spool or sewing machine or something creative!! LOL

Lovely quilt - love the colors!

Have a great day!

I guess it is your sort of lucky unlucky day.

Well, well, lucky for the car, unlucky for the mailbox! Glad you can get back to your quilting with your thread delivery!

Glad no one was hurt and always nice to get a new mailbox;) I tend to stick with the same colors for my machine, black and tans.

Murphy's Law usually applies in cases such as the tree removal. Good to hear that they have so quickly made good on the damage.

I like the colors of your quilting thread - let the QUILT shine not the quilting thread.

Sounds like an adventurous morning! How lucky your car was parked in the garage or you may not have been so excited to see the mail man show up with that bog box of thread. Glad everything worked out for the best.

That is some kind of excitement you could do without!

Hmmm... I would wonder about the trimmers too. Ours hooked every branch to a rope to lower it down. I guess you are very lucky it wasn't your car! :-o
Whew~ that was close with the thread too. Glad you are back in business! Have a happy week!

Gracious! Good fortune was certainly on the side of your car today (just not on the side of your mailbox)! Happy quilting!! :)

I think your neighbors should call my husband. He is not a pro but he gets every tree where he wants it. Good thing too or they would have hit our garage. lol
Glad the mailman delivered just in time.

So glad it worked out! Happy Monday :)!

Well, that was more excitement than you needed but I'm sure glad your car wasn't there for the brunt of it. Nor the mailman blocked from delivering your thread. I bought several colors of thread to use at first and found I didn't need that many. That goldy brown that you have seems to get more use than any at my house.

Thank goodness your car is safe! I think your threads are beautiful :-)

Yikes! Glad all you lost was a mailbox and hope that is all cleaned up and fixed soon!!

YIKES....not a fun thing to happen but better the mailbox than the car!!!

Hope you had them buy you the most expensive mailbox you could find! Did you need a new car lol! I hate it when they come to hack away at the trees. It just looks so awful when they're done :(

Ooohhh, but they are such pretty colors.

Pheww, that was close on both counts. How lucky that your car was safely in the garage, and also how lucky that your postman came at just the right time.

Glad everyone and everything at your house is safe... I think the colors in the box are quite pretty, even if not exactly "colorful"- they are very calming. And it sounds like you need some calm after your mailbox mishap!

Thankfully neither your car nor husband was out on the driveway! thread delivery is always fun. I'm due for another cone of pieceing thread soon.

Yikes! Glad no one was injured. Hopefully, the property damage is minimal. I hated the power company tree trimmers in Houston...they butchered our trees.

It's always something! Glad you got your thread in time!

Oops and double oops! What great luck that the car was in the garage.

I love those colors but I am not such a colorful quilter myself. I love country muted colors.

That was not good planning on felling the tree, thank goodness no one hurt!

Your quilting is beautiful!

Ouch on the mailbox, but just think, it could have been the car!
And please, don't tease with that peek at a quilt getting quilted. It looks amazing...will we get to see soon?
