A Beautiful Gift To Always Treasure - And Your Prayers Requested!

This beautiful wool pinkeeper arrived for me earlier last week. It is truly a treasure as it was made from Kaaren's heart and hands. It's absolutely gorgeous and photos don't show the beautiful embroidery stitches and tiny wool pieces. I love all gifts I receive, I honestly do, but this one has an extra sentimental feeling everytime I see it. My blog friend (and likely yours) is fighting a battle with cancer. Many of you have come to know Kaaren because of her Fourth Friday Freebie she gives us through her blog, "The Painted Quilt." When many of us first learned of her cancer we all banned together and made blocks for her special quilt of friendship. What Kaaren needs is our friendship, thoughts and prayers.

Sweet little label that is on the back of my wool pinkeep.

Thank you Kaaren....love you girl!

Even though our home has been extremely busy these past weeks I managed to get a few small quilts back out in the mail to my customers and started quilting on my reindeer stitchery quilt that has been a UFO for years! I now have the binding to stitch to the back but I think the stitchery lacks color. Karen suggested crayons when I told her I was thinking of painting it. I'm unsure just yet what to do with it...Rudolph certainly needs a bright red nose! (The pattern originally called for the noses to all be filled in with french knots.)

There has been little time for computer lately so forgive me if I haven't got back to you on emails sent or commented on many of your blogs. December is always a very busy month here with not only Christmas but my birthday and then we celebrated our 28th wedding anniversary as well. This Friday is my sinus surgery that had to be rescheduled from last month. Then the following week it is back to work for me with quilting on your quilts.

Happy New Year everyone....may you all see many stitches!!!

A wonderful gift from Kaaren for you to treasure for years to come!!! She's in my thoughts and prayers every day. She'll win the battle - I just know it.

That is certainly something to treasure. Kaaren will do well, think positive thoughts. I would do the crayon colouring and if it's not dark enough add some more. Good luck.

That is a true treasure. Kaaren has difficult times ahead but she also has a lot of people praying for her, including me!!
Love your reindeers!!

Kaaren does such wonderful work, doesn't she?

Yup, Rudolph needs a shiny red nose. What about beads? Slower than crayons or painting but faster that french knots. And it could be shiny if you used the right beads.

Good luck on Friday. I'll b thinking of you as I sit in my booth in Sanford. Wish you could go! Maybe Statesville at the end of the month ....

What about red beads or buttons??

What a sweet gift from such a kind, generous heart! It is beautiful! Another lovely reminder for us to hold her up in prayer.
Will be keeping you in my prayer also as you have your appointment this week. Don't get back to work too fast :-) Rest is good!
Love the reindeer and the crayon idea! Haven't done that yet myself but love when I see it....maybe in2012.

Happy New Year Mary. Love the pincushion from Kaaren. I was happy that she told us where she got the cute labels. I love your little embroidered Reindeer. I think you can use a color pencil for the noses. Triple celebration at your house with Christmas, Birthday and Anniversary. I'll be thinking of you and wishing you a speedy recovery from your surgery.

Kaaren is such a sweetheart and for sure I'll keep her in my prayers. I wish I would have know about the quilt they were making but I didn't until Kaaren showed it/them finished. It was such a gift of love on all of your part. Blogging buddies are truly the best and they tune in on the little things that we really like and/or mean so much to us.

What a fun project with Rudolph too. I'd like to learn how to use crayons on a quilt too that will stay and not wash off so I'll be watching to see how this ends up!

I'll also keep you in my prayers as you undergo your surgery this Friday also.

What a beautiful and thoughtful gift Kaaren sent you. I've made the Reindeer wall hanging and like you I think it lacks color. I hadn't thought of coloring but that would help I think. blessings, marlene

The wool piece is wonderful! Just wonderful. Kaaren certainly has a lot of design sense.
And your reindeer is cute, cute. Crayons or colored pencils will work fine. Have you painted something like this before? I would be scared to do paint.

What a beautiful pincushion - definitely a treasure! I would suggest colored pencils for your stitchery - they'll be easier to use than the crayons, you really need to crayon before you stitch or quilt. You can go over them with a textile medium for permanence.
You'll be in my prayers for your surgery!

I am interested in having a queen size quilt quilted. Can you give me an estimate of how much you charge? I have no idea what the prices are or how long it would be before you could get to my quilt. My email is jehillis@gmail.com if you want to discuss it with me!!
Blessings

I'm not sure what you could do with Rudolph's nose but there are already some good suggestions for you to think about. Congrats on that one getting done. I wish you a speedy recovery after Friday!

What a gorgeous piece from Kaaren! She does such beautiful work. She also remains in my prayers each day.

I just love your reindeers. That would be a lot of french knots!

You have had such a busy season with projects AND celebrations. Now it is surgery to start off the year. No fun, but it will be nice to have it behind you.

Have a wonderful, wonderful year, Mary.

Hi!
About colouring your Christmas project.... Have you thought about colouring with colouring pencils? You need artist quality pencils as the colour won't bleed. There is an Australian designer who uses them on all of her projects.
Here's a hug to help carrying you thru your recovery!
Take care, Leslie
