Schnibbles Reveille Quilted

A fellow blogger once said that quilting is like the frosting on a cake. I have to agree especially on this one! This quilting is called custom quilting with stitching in the ditch (SID), blocks, and two borders. I say this because I get emails from customers asking what is the difference between edge-to-edge and custom.

These pictures were taken yesterday when I just had a bit more to quilt. Today I was able to get it off the frame and bound for some evening hand stitching. This table topper is just too stinkin' cute! I can't wait for the receipient to see her gift.

At Home With Country Quilts

Earlier this year I quilted several quilts for Cheryl Wall's newest book to be released next June. This was a peek I shared of one of her quilts earlier this year. Cheryl sent me the sweetest email the other day that I meant to tell you about! Her latest book will be called, "At Home with Country Quilts" and you can see more of the Martingale & Company photo shoot at Cheryl's blog. Please do visit Cheryl's blog and see the props that were used for the book. Here is Cheryl's email to me:

Hi Mary,
Just wanted to let you know that this week I was at the photo shoot at Martingale for our book (now titled, “At Home with Country Quilts”) due out next June. It’s going to look amazing! I’ve posted pictures on my blog. The photographer, Brent, who’s taken pictures for all of Martingale’s books for the past 20 years told me he’s seen pretty much every kind of quilting out there and he was so amazed and impressed with the quality of workmanship in ours! So, thank you, thank you! I can’t wait for the book!

Life Here At Quilt Hollow These Days

This is the sweetest little quilt measuring 15" x 19" that Joyce wanted custom quilted.

Did you catch just how small this quilt is? This block measures only 5" x 7" and was quilted on my longarm.

How fun to have a surprise in the mail from Denise. I won her giveaway and she tucked lots of extra's in the sweetest package. Thank you Denise!

While I do try to keep my blog mainly to just quilting I have to share with you this photo of my youngest who turns 18 next week. I've been busy with not just quilting but doing some college campus tours with him these past few weeks. Man, I'm going to miss him!

Mountain Dew?

Two weeks ago we went to Boone, NC for a college campus tour at Appalacian State for my youngest son's consideration. I couldn't resist purchasing some apples from one of the many roadside stands. I'm just about the only one here who eats apples so I've been finding recipes to entice my guys. Last night's was a hit! However, it is just full of the not so good stuff to include Mountain Dew! I found the recipe at Pillsbury under a search for Apple Dumplings. I loved the crescent roll dumpling (I ate two!) and I did spend an hour on the treadmill during the middle of the day yesterday in anticipation of my dessert and then again first thing this morning after my guilt!

Meandering Mittens quilting was quilted on this sweet flannel quilt. Can you see those sweet snowmen in the mittens? CUTE!

I'll be scarce for the next week and will consider myself on a little blog break of sorts and stealing bits of time here and there to check on my email.

What A Fast Project!

I started this one on Saturday and I finished the top Sunday. Now it's been added to the "to be quilted" pile. I enjoyed the time spent piecing and this quilt top went together fast! If your looking for a quick and fun little holiday quilt this may be it! This quilt pattern is in Carrie Nelson's latest book, "Another Bite of Schnibbles." The quilt is only 31 x 31. Once I get a chance to quilt it will be gifted. It was fun to work with fabrics that aren't me.

Today was back to quilting for others. I may get to share one with you by the end of the week.

I Can't Stop Schnibbling!

Carrie Nelson's newest book called, "Another Bite of Schnibbles" arrived yesterday. Several months ago I precut a bunch of my fabrics into 5" squares and waited for that perfect pattern to use them. I believe I've found that pattern and cut my fabrics to size today and got busy!

It was a good day!

Star Blocks Needed.....and My Winner!

The star blocks above are headed to The Scrappy Appleyard for grieving family quilts. We are a retired military family and have seen great loss among our own friends in the military community. It is with saddened heart that these pieced stars are needed. Please read more at The Scrappy Appleyard blog.

I had a different plan for these star blocks when I first made them months ago. They then sat as everything else took priority. I'm honored these will serve a better purpose. God Bless the men and women serving our nation and those who gave their lives for our freedom.

A huge thank you goes out to all your bloggers who took the time to go over to Kimberly Einmo's new website and congratulate her on her third book! Her winners are posted on her blog. I had encouraged you to go over and tell her I sent you and WOW what a response! Oh yes I did tease that I would have a possible winner of my own for following through! I'm pleased to announce that Cyndi of Bluebird's Wing as won an autographed copy too! Congrats to all the winners!

Miscellaneous Monday

Here is a glimpse of the lap size Schnibble called, "Short Story" I spent the weekend getting the borders on and quilted. Woo Hoo! I have accomplished something for me! Now it needs some binding and that is my favorite part!

Marcie of Patchalot Patterns asked me to do some quick quilting for this quilt that must get to market this month. You can learn more at Marcie's blog. It's a new pattern!! I love Marcie's designs!

Tilt your head please. I received some fun mail today! My copy is personally autographed so you can't have mine. Can you see that 2nd copy? Hmmm...wonder who will win that one. If you are confused go to yesterday's post.

I've now read Kimberly's latest book cover to cover and do believe it to be on the bestseller's list fast!

Jelly Roll Quilt Magic Book Giveaway!!!

I want you my blogging friend (insert your name here!) to not miss out on the opportunity to win this book giveaway! I posted a tidbit about this at the end of my last post but I think with some confusion from emails I've received. So let me clarify with this post.

Jelly Roll Quilt Magic is Kimberly Einmo's newest JUST released book! This is the third in her series of books. You can see more photos of this book at Kimberly's new updated website or even at Amazon.com. Personally I think you ought to check out her website and watch the top scroll with the delightful photos! I just love the one that looks like sprinkles!!! (you'll see when you get there)

Kimberly is giving away two copies of this book along with her ruler! The winners will be announced October 6th. To enter go to her blog page that can be found at the top of her website or scroll down to about the middle and you will see the most recent blog postings. "The BIG Day Has Arrived" posted on Sept. 30th is the blog post you want to leave your name with comment to win. I am asking that you mention I sent you to her! There could be a little surprise sent to one of you for the follow through if you get my drift. *wink*

Now, once you see a few photos of the quilts you will be smitten and want this book. A favorite that catches my eye is Lone Starburst and now I seriously want a jelly roll of Cherish Nature by Deb Strain! Do you have a spare? (nothing like Seinfield's spare a square only I want the roll)

Best of luck! Now go!!
