Special Gifts That I Must Share!!

Yesterday was spent with my friend Shirley. She gifted me with this sweet little quilt that I just have to show and share!
Here is a closer look so you can see the ric-rac tucked inside the binding. Oh so cute!

She paper pieced this tiny little quilt. It is a wonderful setting; if you look closely there are two different blocks alternating diagonally and then the side triangles and corners.

Shirley also punch-needled this wool rug for me as a barter. Actually, now that I think about it everything I have punch needled has been from her. The top photo shows a rabbit she did for me awhile back.

Here is a little corner of my kitchen area. I put the punch needle rug in the middle of the sifter. It looks absolutely wonderful there.

Be still my heart! What a lovely little quilt! A treasure for sure--an amazing gift. You must be very dear to her.
And the needle punch is so nice, as well. You found a perfect spot for it. (I tried needle punch a few decades ago--never got the hang of it. This one is a beauty!)

I would love to have a friend so dear - you did not say the size of the quilt, and I think I would be further amazed if I knew. It is gorgeous and so unique - might have to borrow the rick rack idea for my little blue bird quilt. Wonderful gifts - only way I would ever get anything punch needled is if someone gave it to me. LoL I might take on the quilt however. What a blessing your friend is. Judy C

So beautiful Mary. The punch needle looks so interesting. I remember about 20 years ago, punch needle used to be the rave but I never got into it. So many creative ideas now.

What wonderful gifts! What a joy to receive gifts this nice. Shirley is very talented. Would she mind if I borrow her idea for the ric-rac sewn with the binding? I just LOVE that and have put off finishing a doll quilt not knowing what I wanted to do with it. I know now! It is a perfect touch.

G'day. It's my first time to your blog and I enjoyed reading it. I do love the little quilt with the ric rac, what a great idea. Your kitchen looks inspiring. After moving to a new home a month or so ago, I am slowly getting my bits and bobs around the house, including the kitchen, much to hubby's constant complaint of "does that have to go there?" lol........ Take care. Liz...
