Pieceful Sunday

My Sunday was spent piecing "Sweet Carolina." This quilt measures 13" x 17". The pattern can be found in American Patchwork & Quilting, Aug 2011 on page 79.

Something I have become irritated with while looking at blogs is all the pop up advertisements! This has been on my mind for quite sometime but today after visiting a blog the stupid ad just kept following as I scrolled through to read the post. I didn't even finish reading and left the blog. I'm just saying....

Beuatiful! I made Pieceful Carolina as well, and am in the process of hand quilting it. I enjoy smaller projects that come together quickly. Are you going to hand or machine quilt yours?

Sherri said...

I love this project! I do have ads on my blog...but there was a box I could specify that there would be no pop up ads...please let me know if there are ever any on my blog...'cause there aren't supposed to be any...

I love making quilts this size. Yours is lovely!

Darlene said...

Very sweet results of a 'Pieceful Sunday'. Oh, those dang pop up ads are so irritating - just saying! 'wink'

Rita said...

Your quilt is beautiful, Mary. I know what you mean about the ads on certain blogs. It seems as though there is more and more actually keeps me away from certain blogs.

Vroomans' Quilts said...

Very pretty mini quilt. Yes, I have un-followed a few blogs because of the ads.

onlymehere said...

I agree with you about the ads. I've quit looking at those blogs bz the stupid ads keep coming up like they do for you. Frustrating. My song player will be gone in December after my son gets home too bz I know it's frustrating to some. I keep it bz of the song that we have a deal about that's first on the list. I liked your post about a "pieceful" Sunday. Just the title made me smile!

WoolenSails said...

Love your new peice, beautiful design and fabrics.
I hate those too or sites that have so much on them, you cannot see where the actual blog is;)

Jan said...

The ads are annoying, aren't they? And, one of the most popular blogs out there has the problem that you mention.
I really like your Carolina Lily piece. I was tempted by that pattern myself!

Janet O. said...

Beautiful little quilt. I don't know what the original pattern looked like, but I love your choice of colors. It will be a great piece hand quilted!
I don't follow any blogs that I know of that have pop-up ads. How annoying!

Shelley said...

Yeah, what is up with that??? The LAST thing I want is to have to deal with ads while blog reading! And you got your Carolina Lily made before me lol! It just may inspire me to dig out the pattern and make it...Lands above, I do need inspiration ;)

Shakerwood said...

I think that was one of the patterns I saved. I'm very good at tearing apart magazines and saving my favorite patterns in page protectors. Need to get the 3-ring binders out more often and actually look at them!

Ads are annoying but not as bad as when music pops up and scares the bugeebees out of me. I usually keep my computer on mute now.

Janet said...

Your Pieceful Carolina is beautiful. Wasn't it fun to piece? :0) I look forward to seeing how you quilt it!

sunny said...

I've always loved the Carolina Lily, and yours is beautiful! No ads or music on my blog - stop by anytime.

mckie2 said...

I read blogs through Google Reader and for the most part you don't have to go to the main blog itself. Some blogs though just preview their posts and you do have to open the blog to read it all. And unfortunately, they can be some of the ones with a lot of ads. I've dropped a number of blogs because they have become too heavy on trying to sell me something or too cluttered with ads.

Karen said...

Have always loved this block. I put it in my parent's 50th anniversary quilt as they live in NC. I may have to do this mini someday :).

Loris said...

Sweet block! Nice to see you piecing :-)Will have to pull out my copy of that mag and check it out.
I am with you on the blog ads. It takes so long to load some of them that I have opted out. And as someone else wrote, I keep my computer on mute to avoid the snippets of music.

Angie said...

My daughter's name is Caroline -- so anything that combines "Sweet" and "Caroline" or "Carolina" gets my attention!!

Love this little quilt - found it, and downloaded it. Thanks for pointing it out -- love your colors you chose!!

Beautiful! I have the fabrics for a lily quilt~ just haven't found the time yet. I think we talked about Pieceful Carolina once before~ I love it! Glad you had a 'pieceful' Sunday. The thing that bothers me about the ads is that it takes so long for some blogs to load with all the ads, music etc~ sometimes I just give up. :-/ Have a happy week!

Wendy said...

Sweet Carolina is lovely, I'm with you on the pop ups.....nuf said.

Barb said...

I haven't seen any of those pop up what you are doing..

Sharon said...

I love this block. As for ads, I f.f. though tv commercials, paid extra to not have ads on my Kindle, etc. Blogs are no exception, I just move on.

Lynn said...

love the block, I keep thinking about doing a Carolina lily block. Seems appropriate. I hate pop-ups and too much advertising on blogs.

quiltercaroline said...

Lovely little quilt.

Sharon said...

Your pieceful Sunday afternoon was so much more productive than mine. guilty pleasure....your wall hanging is wonderful! Pop up ads anywhere are very annoying!!!!!

Belinda said...

CUTE CUTE CUTE!! This an amazing little quilt! I love this block!!!

Stray Stitches said...

Beautiful little quilt! And I couldn't agree with you more about those annoying pop-up ads.

Wendy said...

I'm glad you had some sewing time for yourself, it's a sweet one you finished. I get irritated by some blog ads and get out before even looking at anything.

Kathryn D. Duke said...

ewwww....this is lovely!! I have this magazine also and am thinking about using it as my presidents block that our guild members give me when my "reign" is over!!

Terry said...

Sweet Carolina is beautiful! I don't like those pop-up ads either. And I don't blame you for leaving.

Ruth K said...

I'm with you I don't like advertisements or music on them. I usually listen to my own music while blogging so it bothers me when I have to pause mine to listen to somebody else music ( no offense, but I like to listen to my own). And your Carolina piece is divine, I like to be like you when I grow up. lol. :)

Sue said...

I love this one in the magazine and yours turned out so lovely!

I don't like those pop-up ads either and as much as I like music, I'm not fond of them on blogs as well.

Nancy E said...

I don't like pop up ads! They are very annoying! Your little quilt is beautiful. It is on my list to make.

JCnNC said...

What a wonderful little quilt - so unique. No pop-ups on my blog - I don't want ads either. Come on over. Judy C in NC

Lizzie said...

I love the Carolina Lily pattern, it's on my 'wish' list of quilts to make, I think I might get to this one around my 90th birthday that list is so damn long... :o)
I agree with most about the ads and the music, I too keep my computer on mute as the music drives me mad, I sometimes have my own on in the room and it's intrusive to have someone elses too. I've just cleared my blog page of everything except the blog post because, for me, that's what my blog is about. Just my humble opinion..

Dandelion Quilts said...

Very pretty! The perfect day, I'd say!

Libby said...

I'm saving that pattern for a future quilt idea I have *s*

Pat said...

I like that quilt and was actually also considering making that one. I never signed up for ads on my blog, so if you ever notice any on mine, PLEASE let me know what they there shouldn't be any at all there!!!

Jackie said...

Cute, cute, cute! I'm not a fan of ads either and don't have any on my blog (that I know of, if you see any, let me know). Blogging is fun to me and I don't intend to make money doing it - and I think that is what the ads do, make the blogger $.

Patty said...

I agree on the pop ups. I jsut dont go back to blogs that have them. I also hate blogs that play music. SOmetimes I read blogs while others are asleep and i will hit one and this music starts blaring. Rather irritating. Not seeing so much of the music anymore but pretty sure the ads will increase.

Mary on Lake Pulaski said...

Sweet Carolina for you? It is sweet!
Agree with you on the pop up ads!

Joyful Quilter said...

Your Sweet Carolina turned out so sweet! And Yay! a wish list item that got finished sooner than later. Makes it doubly sweet.

Gerri said...

I love the colors you have chosen for the quilt. And what a pretty pattern.

QuiltSue said...

Your lily looks beautiful, and I wondered too if you will machine or hand quilt it?

I totally agree about the ads too, they are so irritating when they won't go away. I don't mind the static ones so much cos I can just ignore those, but moving/scrolling ones are so distracting.

Carol said...

Love your Carolina Lily! Pop ups drive me nuts!

Barb said...

So great - i love the colors!

Jo said...

Hey Mary I haven't been around a couple I am over catching up. It's good to see you're up and at em again....even with time to do a few beautiful projects for yourself. I really love this and would like to make one for myself.

I too hate the pop ups. I have checked the box, no pop ups. If you find them on my blog, let me know.

MARCIE said...

I have never had the pop up problem. Is your computer set to ban pop ups?
Love your Carolina Lily! I NEED to make that! (When? don't ask!)

Rhonda said...

this is just lovely!
I couldn't agree more about those adds; I usually stop reading the blog as well. it's just too annoying.

Lori said...

I liked that quilt when I saw it in the magazine and I love it now! nice job!!
There are certain blogs that I would like to visit but they have too many ads, the page loads slowly and I get annoyed easily- lol

julieQ said...

I just really like that fun quilt, Mary!! I have the pattern...just need to make one too I guess!!

Marydon said...

regan said...

That carolina lily is so beautiful! I love it! And I so agree...the pop ups are annoying! I sure hope the bloggers who have them are making tons of $ from them, cuz if it's just a few bucks....they are not worth it!

PunkiePie (Jen) said...

Pretty piecing. I hate the ads. They just get in the way.
