OMGoodness!!

A while back I posted about a new book to me called, "Stars by Magic." I'm addicted to this book's instructions for making star blocks. This past Sunday I whipped up this little one block mini quilt.
Did you see the quilt in my previous post? I received an astounding number of comments and tried to respond to each one. Well, here is the TWIN! Marcie made two different but similiar quilts. You can learn more about the happy news Marcie shares at her blog.

Look closely! I've folded quilt #1 over the top of quilt #2 for you to see how similiar they are. Do you have a favorite?

Ooooo look at this wonderful stack of Kim Brackett's new book called, "Scrap-Basket Sensations." These will be given away during the Scrap-Basket Sensation Blog Tour starting tomorrow with Sherri. Be sure you come back here on Friday for my day on the tour to see what I've got to say and for your chance to win a copy of the book! To see all the blogs participating and dates go to Kim Brackett's blog.

Well, I L.O.V.E. that star mini quilt...and you know why! :o) Both of those quilts are awesome; I think I like the sawtooth border the best. And I have been waiting for that book...I will definitely be hopping by each blog in that tour to put my name in the hat. Thanks for the tour schedule, Mary!

XOXO,

Cyndi

Yes Mary, that book stars by magic is great. I have made 2 large quilts from that same book over three years ago. I'll be back to throw my name in for scrap baskets...

Both twins are beautiful, but those tiny nine patches in the border really tip the scale for me!

You've talked me into it -- I've gotta try it!

See you on Friday! :-)

Sounds like great fun, I'll come back on Friday. I love scrap basket quilts. One can never have to many patterns for those.
I really like both quilts. I didn't even realize they were two different quilts until I read the narrative. You are amazing with your piecing, color design and quilting. My goal when I grow up one day as a seasoned quilter is to be just like you.

The two quilts are gorgeous, and your quilt lines add such dimension, too. I'm definitely interested in the stars technique, yours is great. I've looked it up at Amazon, hmmm.
Kim Brackett is a great designer, I would like that one, too. Now, where is the store for more hours in my day....?

Boy, you have started something now! I love the star mini! I was dreaming of more lone stars today...like in the 18 inch size for a table topper or something. Lovely work!
As to the similar quilts, they really are beautiful. I think I like the nine patch border.

I love your little star. I still can't find my copy of that book, so I reckon I must have lent it to somebody, but I can't remember who.

Now I'm off touring.

The quilts are beautiful..stitching and quilting. I have thought about getting your easy star book, in fact it's on my amazon wish list. Right now I am enjoying Bonnie's new book. I'd LOVE to win the Scrap Basket book. I saw it in town and put it on the wish list too.

Love the star mini!

Hard to choose a favorite between those twins--but I like the one on the right's alternate pieced block. However, the quilting in both makes them shine the same!

Mary said...

Love your little mini quilt. It's always fun to make something that you can finish quickly.

Heidi said...

Love that mini star especially the button in the middle! Both quilts are great but I think I like the one with the postage stamp border best. Has an old fashioned look to it. Wish I could comment on Friday for a chance for the book but I am off the Cranberry Cottage first thing in the morning here. It is my birthday on Saturday and we are spending it up north going to a fun city for the day and then a favorite place to eat.

Have a great weekend Mary!

Hugs from Holland ~
