Post Birthday, Barter, and a First!

Today I met up with my friend Sandi for my post birthday breakfast. I tell ya, having a birthday just days before Christmas makes it difficult to get together since we are taking care of last minutes. Sandi gifted me with several things today but this one I just have to show you and I'm so bummed the photos turned on me. (tilt head please or computer monitor...option is yours)

Sandi is one of my longarm friends and someone who truly made me feel welcome when we moved here. Sandi quilted this wall size wholecloth quilt on her longarm all hand-guided! Just look at the detail! Thank you Sandi....there is nothing more precious than a gift from heart and hands.

Remember awhile back I shared a quilt top here about a barter between Karen and I? Our deal was for me to quilt a few of her tops. Here is one of them that I finished yesterday. When I first opened the box to see what she sent I thought custom would be wonderful but then I pulled out the backing and found what looks like another quilt so an edge-to-edge would make it look even better as a two-sided quilt.

Karen requested a design called Kaitlyn's Floral after seeing the quilt below we both felt a perfect option.

This is the very first quilt that Cyndi made! Everything was spot on perfection and a breeze for me to quilt. I loved the simplicity of her pattern and fabrics chosen. Ooooo the quilting gave it such a beautiful texture too!
Okay...I'll be back with my turn to post about the Mix & Match Quilt Book Blog Tour....to read more about it see my previous post. I'll be having a giveaway!

WoW! Love your birthday gift! Definately worth waiting for.

I think a pieced back adds lots of interest to a quilt, but I imagine they can be a quilting challenge, great job!

What a beautiful quilt to be given. I bet you shrieked so loudly with happiness that everyone within about a mile was temporarily deafened.

The backing of Karen's quilt is as wonderful as the front and your quilting really works with it, it's a lovely quilt.
