Quilt Hollow.com

I was finally able to get my ".com" back through Go Daddy.com. I'm working on having my blog domain simply read: http://www.quilthollow.com/. This is all confusing to me and I wish I would have just thought to use Google at the moment! Do you hear a wee bit of panic here? Anyway, Go Daddy folks tell me that it may take up to 24 hrs for the change to take place. In the meantime, all I see is their advertisements page! What about you? Do you see this post? Can you get to my blog ok? I can't! Panicky I am!!

Update - - it finally worked but guess what else happened! My hide-outs are gone....all gone!! I'm bummed and will have to figure out how to get them back. Anybody? Anybody? Somebody know how?

For My Friend....

I completely forgot to take a photo of this tote and pincushion that I made for my friend Candace so I snatched the photo off her blog this morning.

Shakerwood Primitives Visits the Hollow!

Last week Cathi from Shakerwood Primitives and I met in person. We've been blogging back and forth with each other for about a year and a half so we kinda sorta knew each other. Hee!! Cathi drove up and stayed two nights with me so that we could attend the Liberty Antique Show together. We thoroughly enjoyed each other's company.

Look at this wool that Cathi gifted me during her stay. Cathi has her own business called, "Shakerwood Woolens." Check it out!

I urge you to check out her blog and take the time to scroll through older post to see many of her doodles and quilts. Jill was kind enough to gift me with this post card. Jill's artistry will keep you there so grab a cup and enjoy!

Marcie's American Dreamer

I was absolutely tickled last summer when Marcie of Patchalot Patterns asked me to quilt her newest grandbaby's quilt for her. What I didn't know is that Marcie had sent a photo of the quilt pattern she designed to McCalls Magazine and they accepted it. Marcie had no idea that they would accept her design until after I had it quilted. Oh goodness, that immediate thought process of mine said, "I should have done so much more" but I did what the customer wanted with a simple edge to edge pattern. Thank you Marcie and congrats!

The above is a photo Marcie's American Dreamer quilt. How exciting for me too to see my name next to hers! Here is the preview link for the June-July issue of McCalls Quick Quilts.

Attended Forsyth Quilters Guild Show

My photos got out of order here. I found it interesting to see the above quilt three different times at the same show. Each of them wonderful. The one that I liked most out of all the quilts was the house one below. I went yesterday with a friend who helped judge and she said that this quilt was for show only and not judged. It was amazing....unsure why it wasn't judged but it would have won a ribbon for sure!

The one below won Best of Show.

Fellow bloggers belong to this guild and will be posting their quilts with others soon. I just had to share that house one!

Schnibble's Mailed Today

A friend warned me not to go to the post office on tax day. I walked right in to no line. The postal clerks were commenting how quiet the day has been and expressed their concerns about the last hour of the day being crazy busy.

Sorry these are just peeks per customers request. The Schnibble above is Sunday's Best using plumes for quilting.

This Schnibble is Roundabout, the one I told you about in a previous post using Moda's Looking Back line. I quilted it with posies and I've nicknamed this one "Ring Around the Posies."

I also quilted the one below with same posies because the fabric mimicked the design.

Ooooo....look it here! A peek of this month's Schnibble Tagalong! I hope she will like the feathers. I did! I haven't even started piecing mine.

These two following quilts were others I've quilted but didn't want to show the whole quilt until customer received them back.

Hope you enjoyed the parade of Schnibbles held at my hollow today.

I tell you I'm Schnibble addicted and would love to quilt yours!

Jo Club Day

Gorgeous right? This is my friend Shirley's quilt. She has hand pieced this beauty. She plans to use the Big Stitch for the quilting. She has a curved diamond design planned for that open gold area. What do you suggest for the triangles within the triangles? She wants this quilt hand quilted. Give us suggestions please. Thanks!!

This is a project that our Jo club is working on this next month. This quilt house is actually from "Little Quilts" book. We will be using 1.5" strips from our Jo stash. This is the shop sample.

Another wonderful apple core all hand pieced and hand quilted. Love it! I never did make mine.

Drumroll please......Plain and Simple Quilt Shop in Apex, NC will be in the May issue of Quilt Shop Sampler Magazine. The quilt below is the quilt submitted. For those of you who love embroidered blocks will really like this one! I just know it!

The quilt below is another shop original. I believe she said she teaches bias in this workshop.

Here is another quilt shared by the shop owner. She made it several years ago but still a wonderful number with all those homespuns.

Today I met a fellow blogger who happened to be at the quilt shop. I enjoyed chatting with you Lynn.
Lastly, be sure to check out the Thistledown's giveaway on my side bar.

Gratitude and My Weekend

I love "just because" kind of gifts and this is exactly what I received from Karen. She makes the cutest wool pincushions. Go over and visit her and see what I mean in this post! I'm grateful to have met Karen through blogging. Her workmanship is wonderful! Love it! Thank you!!

This weekend has been lonely around here with everybody doing their own thing. This gave me lots of time to work on my own projects. My OSO Schnibble is quilted and still needs binding finished.
Here is a closer look at the design I quilted on the blocks. The line of fabric was Moda's Looking Back. Speaking of Looking Back, I have a pretty customer quilt needing quilted and made from this line. Maybe she'll let me share with you.

Here is the beginning of another project that I started and am making for a friend. She hasn't a clue.
Another glimpse of my someday grand-daughter quilt in the making. I must admit these blocks are addictive and I find myself stitching at least one if not two every evening after quilting during the day.
Jo Club is this coming Tuesday!

Checking in...

Thank you to all who commented at the Stash Manicure post. That is what works for me and some of the things I've been working on these past several months. I wouldn't advise cutting into your favorite fabrics without considering "your own plan" for the cut pieces.

I've been busy and had a pieceful weekend. The above is a long term project that I will work on whenever the urge hits to piece or I have the time in between quilting. I'm copying Darlene's quilt she posted here. For those who know me and my style will wonder what in the world is she doing working with fabrics so unlike her? Well, I have to tell you that I fell in love with Darlene's quilt and all I could think is "my someday grand-daughter quilt." This is what I'm calling this quilt and because I'm in no hurry either is the quilt.

I received a request from a fellow blogger that blocks were needed for another blogger. You bet I'll help and this block is on its way.

My thank you is way overdo. The photo is actually an accumulation of packages that have arrived for me these past weeks. Count it *all* JOY recently had a give away that I won. Abbey Lane Quilts sent me a Clarabella Bag pattern too, Blushing Rose sent the pillow and tea sachet and then as a RAK Quilting is Blissful mailed me a the cute striped pincushion and notepad. Thanks to all again and I sincerely apologize for not posting earlier.
I had to deliver a few packages to the post office earlier in the week myself in 90 degree weather too! I know I wanted some warmth but wowzers it has been hot! Thankfully I did not send chocolates.

November 12th

Here's how the birthday giveaway number was selected. In all fairness I never told my son about the blog post and he doesn't read my blog unlike other family members so he was completely clueless. I also decided I probably should not ask for a birth date as he would likely select his own which would have been ok but in all fairness to everybody....nah! So I asked him to select a number between 1 and 12. Instantly he says 11. Wow he gives me his birth month right off! Second, select a number between 1 and 31 (this could have easily been a problem since all months don't have 31 days...what was a thinking?!!) In an instant he says 12. I then asked him what made him pick those two numbers and he says, "It's LJ's birthday".
So that works for me and my lucky winner is Annie with a birthdate of November 14th.

Annie send me your snail mail and this giveaway will be on its way.

I originally planned to post this Monday morning but thought what the heck let's wrap up this thing early and tell you that I will be posting here tomorrow!

Spring time is here! (or Summer?)

Happy Easter to everybody. We have unseasonably HOT weather here in NC. I'm not quite sure but I think we skipped Spring? I've even put my hummingbird feeders out because according the the hummingbird migration map they are already in the state. I'm anxiously awaiting my own personal sighting.

I just couldn't stand to have this top sit unquilted for long. I knew that I wanted to use this swirl motif in each block.

Then the borders a swirl to match. All I need now is to get the binding made and stitched onto my little quilt.

Oops...a photo turn. What I wanted to point out so you won't miss is in the May/June 2010 McCall's Quilting magazine on page 75 is a coupon for $10 off your next purchase at FQ Shop.
The June issue of American Patchwork & Quilting arrived yesterday as well and I just have to say, WAIT UNTIL YOU SEE THIS ISSUE!! Just about every quilt in this one is so me!
Just a few days left until my giveaway mentioned on previous post. Only those who enter on previous post will be in the draw.
