Generally I'm not an evening piecer as I fade quickly. However with the holidays arriving ever so quickly I've been working on these stars. I've got 86 4.5" unfinished stars to be exact. They are spread out on the floor and soon will be worked into some fun little quilts.

My mailbox still surprises me. OK....my blog friend's surprise me! Jill aka The Quilt Rat is an amazing quilt artist and over the past year I've been fortunate enough to receive these post cards of her work. The latest arrival is the upper right applique flower. I've shared them all with you again and YES....I keep the dust covers on because I'm sure that one day these will be worth a fortune!

Two non-bloggers were so sweet to read a past blog post that I was looking for this fabric. They were kind enough to share freely! I truly hope these two ladies will become bloggers. Jill and Mary Lou....thank you so much for your generosity. Hopefully by now you have found a little something from here in the hollow in your mailboxes.

This is a must share quilt that I recently quilted and is back to the owner. It was custom quilted with a design called, "Scottish Garland." I'm sure she will be posting this soon too and won't mind seeing it here.

I've got so much more I want to share with you but need to learn more first about some opportunities presented to me for quilting jobs this upcoming year. In the meantime, fire up those irons and keep toasty!

What beautiful quilting! I love it! I understand what you mean about not being an evening piecer. I'm not either. I just get too tired, but sometimes I just can't help myself if I've got an exciting project going on!
That is a lot of stars there...wonder what they will become?!?
Love that machine quilting!
And the postcards from Jill are amazing!
Beautiful quilting, Mary!

Absolutely LOVE the stars, Mary!
I am in love with the red and white circle quilt. Is there a pattern that you are aware of?

Mary, the stars are gorgeous!! I've got a piece of yellow stuck back to do a two-color in that small size star -- if it looks as good as your stars, it'll be an heirloom quilt for sure! :-D So glad you got some of the fabric you were looking for! Did you get enough yardage!?
Blessings,
Mary Lou
Love the stars! Wow - beautiful quilting! Opportunity??
I don't do well at night, either. I save that for hand work. But I don't last long with that.
Love the way the stars look laying on the floor. If you squint, it looks a little like Rubik's Cube!!
Love the quilting you did on that quilt...love the stars....and how NICE of those gals to send you the fabric you needed!!! (I'm so behind on blogs it isn't funny......don't think I'll ever catch up!)
It is time to get ready for the holidays, isn't it? Nice surprise from your blogging friends. Wonderful job on the Scottish Garland stitching. It's beautiful!
You're the opposite of me, Mary! I was up until midnight last night piecing :) I like the stars, the gifties, the quilting--there's nothing but thumbs up for this post!
Cute Xmas quilt, the Scottish Garland goes perfect. Those are a LOT of stars - can't wait to see what you do with them.
Your quilting on that last quilt is breathtaking.
I love your little stars too, but 4 1/2" blocks? The peices must be tiny?
Oh, the Scottish garland is beautiful. Your quilting was beautiful. Lovely friends and lovely stars!
I'm "star-struck".
You're a "star" in your own right.
You're the quilting "star".
"Star-ting" now, I'm going to be your bestest friend.
Love that Scottish Garland design. It's perfect for that quilt.
That's a lotta stars! They're too cute!
Sounds like you're going to be busy next year! Yaayy!

I am in love with all of your 86 stars! They are lovely just the way that they are so I can't wait to see what you do with them.
XOXO,

I love your star blocks, can't wait to see them made into quilts. Nice gifts, I'm glad you got the fabric you wanted too. I love how you did the quilting on my Figgy Pudding quilt, thank you. Yes, I will share a picture on my blog.
Your packaged arrived and I was filled with suprise and excitement. Your gift has already been 'out on the town' with me once. Let's just say that many were very jealous of what I carried in my hands. I love it! I also love those little stars and can't wait to see what you make with them.
That custom quilt is just beautiful! Your machine quilting is amazing!
Micki
Good work with those stars and I'm happy you were able to get more of the fabric you needed. That would be something very satisfying to me as I hate to run out! It is also especially nice because blogging was able to help you out with this. Nice community of quilters out there reading :-)
I am particularly inspired by the Scottish Garland quilting. I love the way you positioned the garland around the line quilting on the block. I have resisted the idea of getting the computerized addition to my longarm but I'm "weakening" looking at your work! Your quilting really looks wonderful!
Lovin' those star blocks - can't wait to see what you sew them up into......
That's a plethera of stars. You could make one big quilt with those and some setting blocks or sashing.
Sometimes the mailman brings something besides bills and advertisements. Looks like you hit the jackpot.
Those stars are looking great, Mary.
I love the Scottish Garland on that darling quilt. What a wonderful finish!
well Mary........you know that you deserve every bit of the surprises you find in your mailbox.
How wonderful that someone was able to gift that sought after fabric..you have to be so delighted. And of course your quilting is outstanding as always......love the Scottish Garland quilt....very beautiful and quite unique.
So you are seeing stars???? every time you look in the mirror!!!

The stars are so charming! I can't wait to see what you are creating with them all!!
Love your garland quilting!!
What a beautiful job you did on the quilting on that "Scottish Garden"! I love great!
Holy cow that's a lot of stars you've made. Love the fabric and your quilting again is gorgeous.
Glad you found that fabric! Your green stars are so pretty! I think I'm finally on the mend :)
You do such beautiful quilting! I'd love for you to work on my quilts. Do you ever take orders from Canada?
So many stars! What terrific postcards, I would save them too like that, such a level of artistry. Beautiful quilting, on a beautifully pieced quilt!
