Perfect Example

Here is a quilt top that Bari had me quilt for her. She wasn't real sure about this top but wanted something quilted all over to use for the holidays rather than set it aside as a UFO. I think Bari had her doubts about this one; so I'm showing you a perfect example.

We both agreed swirls would give some fun movement; so in the photo above you can see what I see while I quilt. I'm always excited as I watch the quilts come to life.
This photo is a bit dark but best I could do at the time on that dark cloudy day. Don't you just love what looks like cinnamon buns swirls?!! I love it and so did Bari! Check out my envelope below (tilt head). This is just too funny! She also sent as a thank you the crocheted dish towel.

Get out your tops that you "just not sure about" and get them quilted....I think you will be pleasantly surprised like Bari.

I always love swirls when I see them on quilts. As you mentioned, they really bring movement to quilts. Do you do all yours freehand?

I need to get a thesaurus because I've used words like outstanding and spectacular so many times to tell you how much I admire your quilting. How about astounding? Love the swirls!

What wonderful swirls! I was also wondering if you do them freehand. They are so nice and even! They really do wonders for that quilt! It is a very nice quilt top, but the quilting just makes it complete. Beautiful! I appreciate your posts on quilting. I feel like sometimes we quilters get so involved in piecing, we forget about the beauty that the actual quilting brings to a quilt! Thanks you!

Gorgeous work, as usual Mary. You have a way of making quilts just come alive, so I guess you are a good 'Doctor'. (grin)

Those swirls just make that quilt pop so to say. I really like it. Maybe I will try that one on my next quilt.

Lovely! Yep, and that's a perfect inspiration! It brings it all together.
Love the dish cloth...pretty colors!

I LIKE it! Sometimes we just need to be shown before we can understand. Takes a well educated eye to see how a quilt can look and to know the possibilities. Good job here, Mary.

I love the cinnamon bun swirls. They are a very nice complement to all the straight lines and points in the patchwork. Good eye Doc!

Hmmm, you've reminded me of a top that's been completed for at least 3 years that I'm not happy with, and couldn't decide what to do with.

It quilted up beautifully and I think a quilt that gets used is the best of all.

It's just amazing how different a quilt looks "before" and "after" quilting.

Beautiful, Mary. Now how about a latte to go with those cinnamon swirls?

Very pretty. Sometimes I think the skill is not in the actual quilting but knowing what quilting or design pattern to use on a quilt..that is an art you have perfected!

quilt until it's quilted!" SO true....now she has a fabulous quilt!!! You 'dun' good with the swirls girl!!

Wonderful quilting, as always, Mary. Oops, I mean Doctor Mary.
The contrast of the swirls with the straight lines of the fabric is a great combination. It's definitely a cure for an ordinary quilt.

Mary -

The quilt is beautiful with the swirls! I have to get my quilt in the mail to you, but you know what it's like with the holiday fast approaching! I will get it in the mail soon, and drop you an e-mail.

Love your new title! The allover swirls look really nice, and now she can get some use from the quilt. Maybe this should be my New Year's resolution -- quilt those UFOs!

Another beautiful job. You do such fantastic work. Definately good motivation to dig out those long-lost UFO's.
