New Kitchen Counter

Here I am standing in my kitchen with my new quartz countertops that were installed on Friday. Love em!

We spent Saturday at the NC State Fair among crowds and crowds of people! The day was gorgeous but with so many people trying to enjoy and see displays was a bit much for me. This was my first time to the state fair here and I was disappointed at how they displayed the quilts. I guess lack of space? They hung the quilts on long hanger like arms and a woman was standing below with a long stick turning the quilts slowly for viewers. It took forever to try and see them this way. I didn't have the patience nor did I pull out the camera. I did enjoy the fair foods!

Love the counter tops. We installed quartz also - the best decision for sure *S*

Beautiful countertops, we were looking at that type too. Our kitchen is too small, so we need to gut it and build it out, someday.

I was like you when I visited the Texas State Fair in Dallas. At their fair the quilts are up high above your head which makes enjoying them difficult... extremely disappointing. If you love fair food you'd love Texas'. Among other treats, this year they have deep fried margaritas. Last year's fan favorite was deep fried butter!

P.S. Love the new countertops!

Oh, yuck! NOT the kitchen counters, LOL! THEY are gorgeous (my kitchen layout is similar to yours! and the counter space of the island is wonderful, isn't it!?)...but displaying the quilts that way? We have a "vendor mall" -- a stationery flea market, I guess you could call it -- that hangs cheap area rugs on a device like that. Not cool for a quilt show where you want to browse and stick you nose on the quilt (we really should hand out nose-end covers along with gloves at shows!) to see the stitches!! Sad, but glad you enjoyed the food! :-D
Blessings,
Mary Lou

Great looking countertops. Sorry to hear the fair quilts were not given their rightful showplace!

Your kitchen looks wonderful!!! I'm sorry the quilts weren't displayed better at the state fair. Ours doesn't have them hanging so great, either. I guess they have a certain amount of space allotted to them and if they get a lot of quilts entered, they have to be "creative" in how they display them.

Love the kitchen! So, do tell, what did you eat at the fair?

I love your new counter tops Mary! So pretty, you have a beautiful kitchen. Good picture of you too. How nice it will be to do some cooking in that kitchen and just in time for Thanksgiving. I would run my hand along the counter every time I walked by.

That is just weird how the quilts were displayed, too bad they didn't have more room to display them. I wouldn't have wanted to wait for the lady flipping them either. I think quilts typically aren't displayed too well at the State Fair's. Still I'm sure it was a fun outing for you guys, have some fair food and such. My husband likes looking at the photography exhibit.

Love your countertops! They're so pretty!

Sorry you didn't enjoy the quilt display. That's the biggest reason I ever went to the state fair. I haven't been in years, though.

Gorgeous! You and the counter tops :-) look marvelous. The hardware on your sink looks pretty too. Enjoy your new spot!

Ohhhhh I am soooo jealous! I want new counter tops. Your's turned out so nice, love the colors.

Our fair has so few entries of quilts or any other handmade goods.

I like your new countertops. Originally I thought I'd love to have granite in my kitchen but after having it in our bathroom we've changed our mind. Quartz is the next product we'll be consider (though our remodel is quite some time away).

You will love them for years to come. They are just beautiful.

That is a shame about the way they displayed the quilts.

Never mind the countertops, who's the babe lol.
Too bad about the quilts. I guess it wasn't important enough. I feel for those that entered them.

Love those counter tops, Mary. I'm definitely going to look into something similar when we renovate our new/old kitchen in our soon to be new/old house. *wink*

I didn't enter any of my quilts in our local fair this year for the same reason. I was so disappointed in how they displayed them last year that I decided not to put any in this year. Evidently only two quilts were entered this year so maybe they'll get the message.

Your new counter tops are so nice looking. You have the kind of kitchen people want....at least on HGTV House Hunter's television show.

Gorgeous countertops! I love where you have your sink too. I wish mine was in an island but when we built the house I thought I wanted to see outside more than into the family room. Oh well, live and learn, lol! It's nice to see you in the picture too!

I'm with you on viewing the quilts. When one catches my eye then I want to look at it longer and closer so I'm afraid I wouldn't be very patient looking at them with someone else turning them with a stick. I hope it was fun otherwise.

Well, hello there, you! I think this is the first photo I've seen of your pretty self :)

We put in quartz countertops too==ours were called Silestone. The great thing about them is that with speckled texture, you can't see any crumbs or mess as easily.

The bad thing about them is that you can't see any crumbs or mess and sometimes you put stuff down right on the crumbs and mess. I'm convinced that's why my refrigerator gets dirty so fast!

Sorry the fair experience wasn't great. At our fair, they hang the quilts from the ceiling too, folded, and you can't see the entire quilt. Oh well.

Beautiful countertops!! Sorry about the quilt display at the state fair but at least the food was good! :) Have a super week, Mary!!

Disapointing to hear about the State Fair...I have heard that at our State Fair, they display the quilts folded. But exciting to see the new counter tops...Jim and I are talking about it for our kitchen. Enjoy!

I have kitchen envy! Now of course you'll have to go out to eat from now on.....don't want to mess them up do you? LOL

The quilts at the State Fair? What an unfortunate way to display them. I am sure the quilters were quite disappointed as well.

So smooth, so gorgeous, so beautiful, so inviting and so wonderful to look at........both the countertops and YOU.

Mary, your kitchen must be a dream come true for you because it certainly does look heavenly to me.

Can you just imagine creating your entertaining treats in such a beautiful kitchen?

Hold on, let me pull up a chair...LOL

i'm impressed, you braved the fair on a Saturday, it was a beautiful day. Did you manage a trip to Plain and Simple while you were in the area. I don't think I'm going this year. I didn't enter anything, plus I read an article in Saturday's paper that had calorie listings for fair food. Two good reasons for me to stay away. I agree about the quilts. The only thing I can say in their behalf is that the ladies who turn the quilts are very nice and will stop to allow you to take pictures. But still there must be a better way.

Love your countertops!! We have our quartz ones all picked out. Just have to find the cash to get them. :(

Beautiful countertops! We installed the quartz also. In fact, it looks like the same one!

I am glad you mentioned that about the state fair. We were thinking about going on Friday. Roy Underhill is going to be there. My husband loves his show but I think my hubby has decided he doesn't want to go and now I won't be dissapointed knowing that is how the quilts are displayed.

Love the counters and kitchen, great to see a pic of you.
Too bad about the quilts at the fair. Did they tell a story about the quilts while turning them? Just can't visualize this way of displaying quilts.
Our local quilt show has been doing a bed turning the last few years. They set up an full or queen air mattress on a camp frame and 2 ladies turn the quilts as another lady tells the story about the antique quilts on display.

Very beautiful !!! Would that happen to be a GE Profile range with double ovens in the background? Wonder what it would take to get the fair to change their display of quilts. Several friends stopped entering their quilts because of the display. What a shame.
