This quilt is called "Sherman's March" and belongs to a no blog quilter so I don't think she would mind my sharing where I am at with it. I'm quilting away my days on this one and hope to have it back out in the mail to her by Friday. I absolutely love how quilting plays across the quilt top. I stitched in the ditch to "stabilize" the quilt before quilting the motifs. This is something to keep in mind while you are quilting your top; consider your stitch in the ditch quilting as your stablizer and then play with fun designs to make your blocks POP!

I love the quilting in the big white squares. It complements the overall design very nicely. You do wonderful work.
I KNEW it would turn out fabulous!! :-D The swirls not only pop, but they soften the "marching" of Sherman all over the quilt. I've not mastered the "in the ditch" with my Hobby Quilter, yet, but I've got lots of UFO's to practice on. LOL
Blessings,
Mary Lou

Such a beautiful quilt, and I especially admire the design you've put into the open spaces. As I quilt my own quilts, the open spaces petrify me. Your lovely design fills in the spaces so beautifully.
Such a beautiful quilt. Very classic. Your quilting is just right!
A lot of work machine quilting that. I think that must be the version by Bonnie Blue Quilt patterns.

WOW...WOW. Mary that is totally awesome. The lady you are doing it for is going to FLIP.
how beautiful is that quilt.....
how is Lexie going???????
Stitch in the Ditch to stabilize is a terrific way to ensure a nice even finish to your quilt......and if you only want those pretty motifs stitch in the ditch with water soluble thread and it will all disappear once you have wet it after you've finished the quilting
the motifs are wonderful and really set off the quilt blocks
Beautiful Mary. I want to quilt like you.
You really have a wonderful gift with quilting designs, really beautiful stitching.

Beautiful quilt; beautiful quilting.
I've never heard of that block being called Sherman's March. I know it only as Snowflake--and I'm thinking about making a blue and white one. Very interesting. (Maybe that's because I used to live where Sherman did march! Hmmmmmm.)
Love those swirls in the plain blocks!
It's stunning Mary - really just stunning! Thank you SO much for the tip about stitching in the ditch first - too! I'm going to remember that - and try it (when I stop being a chicken that is LOL)!
