Bountiful Baskets GO! Die Update

Remember awhile back my pure frustration with this block? Then I read on another blog the same frustration and that blogger trashed the die cut handles and used rick rack trim. Thank goodness I was not alone is all I can say about that!

I contacted Alex Anderson and she was the sweetest gal telling me it can be done. A few emails between us back and forth; Alex posted her tutorial HERE! Her tutorial shows you how to cut and make the block without the GO! die. This weekend I plan to try it again Alex's way and because you don't need the GO! to make this block my challenge to you is to see if you can do it too. I'd love to know if you made one and also would love to see your block if you would share. Just one...makes a pin cushion!!

Once I get done with the have to's this weekend, I will try mine. I never follow directions anyways, so will see how I end up doing it;)

I'm going to try it...just not sure when...just got a huge batch of medical typing to do (that I didn't expect to GET this weekend), so that kind of ties me up for awhile. *sigh*

That's amazing! I never would have thought it was possible to sew that handle by machine! I'm going to give it a try and let you know how it goes - thanks for telling us about the video!

I love postage stamp baskets. Many years ago when I used to watch Alex's quilting show in TV that is where I learned how to make the handle. EASY!!!

I subscribe to "The Quilt Show" with Alex and Ricky. I get email updates from them several times a week. Today I received a post entitled.."Postage Stamp Basket-Handle Help". Alex has a great video for making the little basket block and how she does the handle is so slick! I just might have to try one and make a little pin cushion like you suggest. I am glad to hear you have not given up on the basket block. They are so cute!

I have made 115 of these basket blocks using Alex's method! Would still love the GO! The handles are easy to do Alex's way and the blocks sre the sweetest ever. My pincushion is next and a block also makes a sweet name tag for a quilt group or guild! Good luck everyone!
