Easy Nine Patches

A few of you have been emailing and asking me about the GO! The verdict is still out and only because I didn't feel well this weekend to just play with it. There were a few hours spent in the Urgent Care waiting room yesterday for an antibiotic to kill my lovely sinus infection. The left side of my face is in pain and feels like my top teeth need pulled.

One of the dies I have is for 2.5" strips. One thing I do not like is alot of waste so I put my fabric on the die and was careful not to have too much going over the blades. The fabric was a full WOF piece folded over so I cut through 4 layers. The die cuts three 2.5" strips at a time.

In this photo I have the strips stacked but wanted to show you the leftover. This is about how much I would have cut off to straighten fabric with my rotary cutter. I could see that the GO! will certainly speed strip cutting.

Here's 78 stacked nine patches that required 2.5" strips. The blocks are now in the mail to Julie for the exchange.

Okay, I'm a believer.
I'm literally booting up my machine to work on my nine patches as I type this.

Now what cha going to work on? Are you planning on doing an August Schnibble?

Scott is still homw, don't know if he'll be traveling this week or not. I don't quilt on my longarm when he's home because it is in his office - or should I say "his space" that he has in the other room...LOL

I sure feel for you with your sinus infection. I really hope it clears up soon. They are miserable!!!

Thank you for sharing about the GO! I get that it speeds up cutting, but aren't the dies rather expensive? I have visited so many sites where everyone loves it, but I'm always thinking about cost. I'm really just talking out loud, I guess:)

Get well soon

So sorry to read about your infection!~ I hope the antibiotics do their magic and you are back to feeling like yourself soon. I wondered about the waste with the GO, you sure answered that one for me! I'm wishing, but it isn't working! I don't think I'll be able to get one anytime soon. Feel better soon!

Hope you're feeling better, Mary. Okay, you've sold me on the Go...if only to cut 2.5" strips!

I finished my blocks this morning and they are now winging their way to Julie. Woo hoo! Another thing to be crossed out on the list!

I sure hope you feel better, it seems a lot of people are having that problem this year. Maybe all this heat and humidity, just can't breath.

That is nice when you need to cut a lot of pieces and get them all perfect, something I will never do, lol. I have avoided doing too many quilts with piecing, but it would be nice to make one with a pieced design for my bed.

I am thinking seriously about the 4 1/2" strip cutter for making 9 patch and 4 patch squares. Doing those with strips and then chopping the strips to make the rows makes it so fast! Yeah I think that one is going on my Christmas wish list!

These summer illnesses are sometimes the worst...or at least they seem to be. Hope you are feeling better. The GO seems to be a 'go' :-) yes, corny...

It's never a good sign when your teeth hurt from sinus pressure. I hope you feel much better very quickly.

I love seeing posts that show how little waste there is with the GO cutter.

Your 9-patches look great. Good for you getting them all done, I still need to start mine. It sounds like the GO cutter can certainly speed things up. I hope you feel better soon!

I'll be cutting for my nine-patches tonight. Wish I had a GO to help me do that!

Sorry you weren't feeling well. I think the only time my kids ever saw me cry was when I had a sinus headache/infection. Felt like my head needed to be removed. Baaaad. Feel better!

I wondered about the waste...was not sure if you would be sacrificing fabric for ease and convenience.
This looks so fantastic!

Hope you are on the mend. Sinus infections can really be dreadful.

Sorry you've been sick with Sinus problems, hope you're feeling better soon. The Go looks like it would be so helpful. I've heard there is some waste, but it probably speeds up the process so well worth it. Your blocks look fantastic.

That looks like an interesting machine. I wonder if I have some kind of sinus infection, as my sinuses have been draining into my throat for over a month now. It feels funny, but no other symptoms. Hope you are feeling better now.
