Special Friendship

Yesterday was spent visiting with my friend. Look at the WOOL pillow with wonderful variegated embroidery stitches she made for me. The photo doesn't even do the pillow justice as it is absolutely gorgeous.

When I got to her house I unloaded the bag and her hairless kitty found himself a wonderful napping spot. He is a real lover!

Remember two post back I asked which quilt looked better this black one or the lighter one? Well, what I didn't say on the blog was that I made the black one for my friend's birthday. I wasn't sure if she would read the blog and I didn't want to spoil the surprise. So at our Jo club meeting I pulled out both and she quickly nabbed the black one as hers.
All of the black Jo Morton fabric is sold out at the quilt shop. I'd only purchased enough at the time to make this quilt. How many times have you ever done that?

Oh, I like that bag! Well, and the cat too of course! What pattern did you use for it?

That means you got the light quilt. Lucky you!

I loved the black quilt too. In fact, you have given me a great idea for a project. My local quilt shop had some small fat quarter bundles of tone on tone Civil War prints that would be fabulous on a black background. Now I need to stop off there and get those bundles before they are gone!

A very pretty pillow indeed. And your friend picked the one I liked.

Yes I do that all the time and in fact go back to that exact quilt shop with a scrap of fabric asking if they still have some. I tlove the pillow that your friend (hey I know her!) made your quilt that you made for her. Love the piano key border. The cat - hmmm never have seen a hairless one.

Well, that must have felt good! The wool pillow is beautiful. How wonderful to share gifts with each other. I can see she is quite pleased with that beautiful quilt too!
Cute, smart cat to snatch a new spot to claim. Mine are too shy to show up when people come to visit. The last cat I had would come and try to lick their hair...not always preferred by anyone!

Hey Mary...Is that the Jo Morton that is black and has little stars that are gold? If it is...I just bought the last 3 1/2 yards from the bolt at our local quilt shop. I use it ALL the time. I was tempted to tell the owner to buy me a bolt of it!

The wool pillow is a wonderful gift. And your friend picked the right quilt, love the black. Mmmmm maybe another quilt to start. The cat probably was looking for a warm and cuddly spot, too cute.

That pillow is beautiful! And the cat is so different looking - I don't think I've seen one like that before. And I think that both the black and white quilts looked wonderful. And about the fabric, I do that all the time and could kick myself.

A delightful sharing of gifts between friends. I do love that wool pillow! Looks like you found the perfect way to find out which quilt she might like best...I would have picked the black one, too. She has great taste!! :-D What a cute kitty. Can you have a hairless cat at your house? Hope your week is going nicely.

Mary, What great photos. The pillow is absolutely darling. OH! The cat...! My daughter has wanted one of that breed for years and I must say he is one of the most beautiful I have ever seen, and I've seen several! Would you mind if I send her a copy of that picture? Besides, it is just an adorable photo. He looks so comfy and warm. I think I'd have crawled into your great bag too if I'd been close by, LOL. I see your wonderful quilt found it's way into the heart of your friend. A good home for it indeed. Big Hugs...

LOVE that pillow you got...and your friend looks so happy with the darker Jo Morton quilt. Just what is that hairless kitty's name? (Inquiring minds want to know!)

Lucky her to receive that beautiful quilt (the one I said you should keep!!).
And lucky you - I love the pillow you received!

Gorgeous wool and embroidery work--what a lucky friend you both have in each other, so talented! I'm glad the lighter quilt stayed with you but boy the black one looks fantastic. That is it, a basket quilt has to go to the top of my list!

Lovely pillow. Love the stitching. It's so "you!"

Hairless kitty, huh? Somebody's family may not be alergic to one of those, and somebody might be able to find one of those to help her in her studio. :)

I'll be on the lookout for your black fabric.

Cute pillow, cute cat, and great friend (both of you). Did you take the hairless kitty home? Your husband shouldn't be allergic to it.

Love the pillow and that cat is too cute for words. I love both quilts equally as well. Isn't that the way it always goes. Maybe you can find the fabric elsewhere. You could always google it, you might be surprised.

I should think she was thrilled with her present.

My trick with fabric is to buy a jelly roll but no extra fabrics, then hoard the JR for a while. Then, when I am ready to use it, of course, there is no yardage to be found! What makes it worse is that I never learn from my previous mistakes.

Beautiful quilts, great friends...what could be better?

Oooh, that hairless kitty is adorable! Lovely quilt -- and I'm glad you kept the lighter one! :-)

Love the hairless cat! One of my favorite pics is of a group of hairless kittens...ugliest darn things you've ever seen but still cute.
