Gratitude and More

When I opened a customer's quilt box today there was this adorable bag gifted to me! It is the sweetest gift with a fun drawstring pouch sewn in the middle. If I remember correctly I spotted this on her blog month's ago and admired it then. It's even prettier up close and personal! Thank you Rebecca it is a treasure.

I bought a gadget called, Lil Twister. It reminds me of a template I would make to use with the Square Dance book, only this is much nicer and easy to use with a rotary cutter.
I had several Autumn looking 5" squares and yesterday I wanted a very quick and easy piecing project. Do you ever just want to piece? I stitched the 5" squares together and added a 3" border.

Then used the Lil Twister template (see above) to cut out all my pieces. At this point I'm thinking ALOT OF WASTE.

Here is my end result with exception of quilting and binding. This could be the fastest project I've ever made. Does it look like Autumn leaves?

That little bag is darling, super cute as a matter of fact! I do like your little fall leaves, and waste-perhaps but you did take from your stash and that is a good thing, right?

Very pretty and autumny! I'm sure lots of that leftover mess can be turned into something else. There are some pretty regular-looking squares on that table. Is this the tool you use after the seams are sewn?

Very sweet bag your customer sent.

I love your quilt--yes, it does look like fall leaves! Very cute! I too made a quilt from the book Square Dance a while agao and love it! I will have to show it on my blog. I also went out and purchased both the small and large L'l Twister and will have to begin a new quilt using them soon! I bought the templates because I thought that they would make the Square Dance quilt I loved.

I'm so confused as to how this worked! Did you sew it all first and then cut it up? How did you sew it back together to look so cool? Wow, this is awesome! How fun to get a gift in the mail!

Oh goody you got your twister tool. I asked the LQS for one and she said she'd ordered it so I'm just "patiently" waiting.

I have seen one of the gadgets you mentioned. My friend made one of the quilts. She says the pieces are very forgiving going together.

I am still stuck on wanting a go cutter;)

Oh my goodness, how fun is that. For the life of me I can't see how it worked (my brain is a little foggy today) but I love the result. It is a perfect 'instant gratification' project. Yes...I often get caught up in my bigger projects and think I just want to sew something fun, fast and easy so I set things aside and make a small something to give me a boost. Your new little gadget is perfect. I think that is definitely something I need. Yup! Gotta look for one of those. Hugs coming your way.

Okay, I think I'm going crazy here, I had to look and look again and look again to get this.

Yeap, either I'm going crazy or blind....

Oh wait - BOTH....LOL

Cute bag! That little twister thing looks interesting. There may have been a lot of waste, but you also got a very fun quilt out of it, and it sounds like it was lickety-split. I'm sure you'll find a way to make use of the remnants. :)

I've been wanting to buy these twister templates but my LQS doesn't have them... so I'll have to look on line for them.

I read on one blog http://www.joscountryjunction.com/?p=1249

where she had first used the large template then used it's left over pieces to make up one with the little template. Cool hua?

take a look at both of them here:

love your fall colors set against the black :) how big is the overall quilt?

Love from Texas! ~bonnie
