Fun Misc Stuff...Oh and I Do Mention A Winner

I'm a Charming Quilt Alonger and you can be too! It isn't too late to sign up and you can find the information here at Kelly's blog called Charming Chatter. Although I must admit it would have helped if I would have followed cutting directions. I'm using two charm packs of Vine Creek. Directions say to cut 3 - 1.5" strips from your charms. Why did I cut 1.25? I have bonus strips leftover for a coin quilt! Thanks to Kelly she sent me "modified" cutting directions for my background. My quilt will be smaller compared to all the others.

Honestly when Stephanie at Loft Creations introduced a No Strings Attached Challenge earlier in the year I thought I would whip out several projects. This is my one and only I managed to make. I quilted and bound it this past weekend.

Lastly, the winner to yesterday's post. She has somebody named Bo to thank. It was that slip of paper that was pulled from the hat. Bo spotted the giveaway on another blog and was kind enough to comment her find on my giveaway post. SEW CINDY you are my winner!
I'm trying to think of some fun way to celebrate with you my second year of blogging which is next month. Only this time the giveaway will not be spread into blogland but kept private among true blue blog friends. In other words, only those who visit me regularly will be considered.

I got carried away this weekend and actually assembled my charm-a-long. Then when I visited my daughter on Sunday, I realized it was just the thing to hang on her as-yet unadorned kitchen wall. I will work on quilting this week. These charm quilts are terribly addictive!!

How sweet of Kelly to send you those modified instructions! Now you don't have to worry that you wasted fabric. I like how your strings turned out to. Someday I'm going to make one of those and I've been saving those scraps! Congratulations to your winner! She's a lucky gal for sure.

Even though you cut your charms the wrong size (you must have learned to read where I did! lol), the blocks are cute and I bet will make an adorable little quilt.

Mary, Your 'No Strings Attached' is absolutely adorable. I love the design. I have to tell you too that when I saw your selection of fabrics for the Quilt Along I had to laugh, then almost cry...I had the same collection in mind for mine, but when I pulled it out, instead of the two charm packs I thought I had, I only have one full one and about a third of the other one. I had forgotten that I used some of my Vine Creek in a table runner.(dang it) I just had to join because I love the little quilt and as soon as I saw it, I knew that my Vine Creek would be perfect. Now I have to pull out my stash, which truly isn't very large so it won't be a problem, but choosing is always so hard for me. Boy am I behind or what??? LOL. I just joined a couple of days ago, but went for a motorcycle ride with hubby yesterday for Father's Day so today will be a resting day. I may not meet the deadline, but I WILL get it done, with whatever fabric I decide on. I may be able to do that today. Then I'll just have to try to hurry. I also got a huge laugh when you said you had cut 1 1/4" because I have done that so many times! My brain see's the right numbers, but for some reason, my ruler doesn't lay on the right line. (sounds like a good excuse, don't you think? blame it on the ruler...hehehe). Well, I'll stop rambling (something I just seem to do when I write to you, and thanks for listening). A big congratulations to Cindy for winning 2nd generous giveaway and I'll be around to congratulate you on 2 years blogging, wow it goes fast huh? A wonderful milestone. I have 2 years quilting now too. Not as productive as most quilters but all the same, there is no better therapy in the world! Big hugs coming your way.

So many quilts (ideas to try) and so little time. I think I'll try a few "little" ones. Maybe that way I can get to a few of the ever growing list of things I want to try.
Yours are always so inspiring!!!!

Congratulations to Cindy!

I love string quilts, but am sort of at a standstill on the one I'm making my daughter. It wasn't large enough to suit me, and I was out of the fabric used for the center strip, so I added borders. Trouble is, the strips are stitched onto muslin, and the borders are single thickness--no musline. With the muslin, batting isn't needed, but what about the borders? So I'm stumped and the top is languishing in the sewing room. Wish I'd made it without borders, like yours.

I love your string quilt. I am in a table runner mood and that would be perfect. Thanks for sharing.

Your mini version looks just great! I didn't make it quite right either, my seam allowances were too generous so I had to trim the blocks to 4 1/4".
The string quilt is very sweet, and the main thing is you finished it on time. You can make more whenever you want to.

See Mary, I look at your fabrics and heave a sigh. Oh my! I really went out of my comfort zone on this QAL. I am still unsure about it even though I have it almost all sewn together and see it is fun and cheerful. How silly am I?

I just love your string quilt. I have never made one and really do want to do it soon. Just to find extra time...

Congratulations to Cindy.
