I Do Not Have Pets

Sorry this post is not quilt related but those who know me and have heard a few stories will likely enjoy this post. All four were here first thing this morning. Above is the momma cat I call "Emily." I don't know her real name. Back when I had "Meowzer" he romanced her. Oh and for those who don't know who Meowzer is, he is the kitty on my Quilt Hollow portrait.

Here is a photo with "Lexie" the beagle who showed up one day in our yard with these two kitties. It turns out they all live back behind my house at another neighbors.

This kitty cat is named "Socks" and is one of Meowzer's kids. Socks doesn't visit near as much anymore so I was quite surprised she was here with the rest of the gang today.

Lexie the beagle runs in the neighborhood playing with all the kids and other dogs that allow her. It frustrates me and I'm so afraid she will get hurt. Just about every evening when Lexie heads back for home she stops at my porch for a biscuit. Yes, I keep dog biscuits and kitty food in the house just because I do love their visits.

This is Meowzer's other sweet baby named "Midnight." She visits more than all of them and is very demanding with her loving. The neighbors keep collars on all of them. One day Midnight showed up at the front door with the collar on her neck but also caught up underneath a front leg. I had to CUT it off with scissors! It made me so mad.
I can't have any of my own because my husband's allergies. But I'm content with Emily, Socks, Midnight and Lexie coming around periodically for visits and I have no vet bills.

I was wondering where the kids have been hiding out. Nice that they all paid you a visit so you can get your fur baby fix. :-D

How cute they are and you are lucky to have them visit without the bills.

I'm thinking these neighborhood pets know you love them and that's why they come to see you, the treats may also be a reason. They are all so cute.

yea for no vet bills....and you get to enjoy the animals without the fur and mess in your home.

So cute! Though I know what you mean about frustrating. I'm always worried when I see them out that they'll get hurt.

You have a special type of pet called an "Intermittent Animal". This indigenous species can be found in many rural neighborhoods, as well as suburban tracts and urban dwellings. Often wrongly thought to be abandoned, this type of pet seeks out soft-hearted residents for extra attention and treats. Enjoy!

There are three new neighborhood cats around my house. Two will not come near me, the third is a lover, the sweetest thing, drools worse than Obba. What gets me mad is the lover is declawed and roaming about. My cats are declawed, but they are never allowed outside. If my cats wouldn't have a full blown fit, that cat would disappear into my house. Grrrrrr..

Hi, Mary,
I sooo enjoyed the pictures of your occasional fur babies. I am glad they frequent your place so often. Oh, I remember, the week that Meowser disappered...how my heart hurt for you...

They all look so sweet. Enjoy a relaxing Sunday. ~Natalie

You are a great neighbor, so thats why the 4 legged friends visit often. They are all very cute.

These animals know where to find a kind heart.

I really get annoyed as well at people who let their pets roam free. Mine is indoors ONLY and only occasionally gets out on the back patio WITH supervision! LOL But that whole pack is SO DARNED CUTE!

I do realize if those pets were kept inside, you'd be deprived of their visits, BUT....I don't like to see pets roaming free like that, either, as they could get hit by a car way too easily. Those pets are lucky to have such a nice neighbor as you are!

Vet bills - don't even get me started. They are a cute bunch, but I know what you mean worrying about other people's animals that are let out to wander.

That is funny...you have adopted pets! Wonderful, and very similar to what we do too. Have a great day!

How lovely...
Want me to send some cookie dog and cat biscuits for you... Great story... Cat collar's are for owners only. I never think they do cats any favours.
I can still help out with the biscuits :-)Although they all look beautiful babies. x x x

All your little neighbors are lucky to have you for a friend. I think Midnight looks alot like Mommy!!
And a pet owner of 5 dogs, horses, cows, chickens etc etc, you can count your blessings on the lack of vet bills. Anyway you are abundantly blessed.

That is so sweet that they all come to visit. Socks looks just like my Max and my Max visits the neighbours too. He goes next door every morning to say hello and across the street to sit on the fence and tease the little white Maltese. He has a "Bunker" down the front that he can hide in and chase away any cats that come near his house.

It is a shame you can't have any pets but its good that you get to play with the neighbour's pets and they must love you because they keep coming back.

How fun that they all showed up at the same time...kind of a late Mother's Day party :-) It is good that they 'take care' of you since you can't keep any. What sweethearts! I'm sure it is tough to see them out and perhaps too vulnerable at times. Thank goodness they have you too.

They know you love animals, so they come by to visit, how sweet. I do not use colors on my kitties, way too many ways to get caught up in those.

They know who loves them and where the best places are to hang out. All cats should have "break away" collars, to stop that very thing from happening. Enjoy your little visitors.

They know where they're loved, Mary.

Hey--you got it made in the 'shade" here---you get to love all those babies and give them treats--but no big food bill or a vet bill!!!
Way to go!!!!

Your little furry neighbors are so cute. I hope you're in the country where there's no chance of them being hit by a car. I hate to see cats and dogs roam free. They always seem to come to my house when they get lost. They must sense we're animal lovers.

There is an underground furbaby network and the word is out--Other Mom lives here.

Although, it does seem as if they are keeping it a secret from outsiders.

Cats and collars? Shouldn't even be used in the same sentence.

You remind me of my New Jersey grandmother. She would feed all the cats in the neighborhood and wonder why she had cats visiting all the time.
I sure miss having a cat in the house but do not miss the litter box and hate to have an outside cat that might not make it home some night.
Enjoy your visiting babies.

I LOVE the beagle...but I have a great weakness for beagles.

I love the pictures. I am a cat and dog lover. So glad you get to have visits, even though you can't have your own furbabies. Winona

Those are such nice "pets". You get to enjoy their love and not have the cost that comes with three pets. I have two dogs myself and we love the neighbors dogs too.:o)

Can I send some of my neighbors dogs your way? You know, the ones that stand outside the window and drive my two dogs bonkers. . . . at 6:30 on a Sunday morning when I'm not quite ready to get up yet? I was just wondering ! LOL

No vet bills -- boy would I love that! They must love you a lot to keep visiting. They're all so pretty. So what's your gray kitty been up to? The one your family gave you for your birthday? :)

Cathi said...

How beautiful they all are!! I'd be keeping dog and kitty treats in the house for those little visitors too!
