I Love A Good Barter!

I'm sharing with you another barter. My friend Shirley (no blog) asked me to custom quilt her applique quilt I shared here. In exchange she would make a quilt for above my fireplace mantel.

This was a pattern that I carried around with me for years in the hopes of one day making it. Well opportunity knocked and I'm glad I listened! Thanks Shirley! It is perfect!! You may find the pattern in the April 2001 issue of American Patchwork & Quilting magazine, page 66 called "Welcome Home."

I'm also thankful to Shirley for making my punchneedle rabbit! I've had the floss and pattern for over a year. The little black framed piece was actually an old nut dish that I found for a buck in an antique/junk shop. Shirley painted it black and the punchneedle fits it perfectly!
Earlier this week I spent a few hours in my son's college dorm room going over his taxes. I should have known as soon as the door opened a puff of stale hot air came looming out into the hall not to mention the unsightly room! Today I have a very sore throat, running nose and blah. I hope this clears quickly because next Thursday I head to Atlanta area for a longarm retreat.

You're a brave mother!

Love the quilt. Is it a Kim Diehl? Looks really familiar, I probably have it. And a finished punch needle, too. Just in time for Easter.

I have my daughter's taxes staring at me at home. I would have her send me everything and then just mailed it back. Last year I had her do her own and send them to me for review. She did a pretty good job at it. This year she did the same but it has been sitting on the counter for the last week. I hate doing Taxes!

Love the pieces Shirley made for you. Is that Pineapple quilt from Kim Diehl? It looks familiar and I have one of Kim's pattern marked for a future finish that looks like that.

Your barters are really paying off in some wonderful quilts. Just in time for some springtime decorating!! The bowl turned in to frame is just perfect.
Have a fun trip, hope you feel better.

Beautiful quilt. Really looks terrific over the fireplace. I love the pineapples on it, and the punchneedle rabbit is wonderful. I've attempted a bit of punchneedle and I have one now that needs finishing, I can't seem to stick with it, so I admire anyone who can do it. What a clever frame. Swapping is a great idea. Dorm rooms - a viral nightmare. My daughter was sick for the entire school year it seemed and whenever she would visit she'd share it with us. Blech!

Shirley is awesome! You did well in your bartering.

Is this what I have to look forward to????...My Little Person's room is a disaster right now, so what is it going to look like in 15 years?????

Hope you feel better! Another nasty cold has made its way home to us...:0(

I love that pattern and I think I have that issue. I have been wanting to do a pineapple piece for my dining room and that would be a nice size.
