A Finish, A RAK and A Start

Here is a close up of the some free swirls quilting on Hot Cross that I showed in last post. The binding was stitched on last night so I have another finish. The colors aren't like anything else in my home but I love that it is fun and refreshing!

Thank you to my friend Kimberly! She sent me an autographed copy of her latest book as a RAK! There are 10 patterns that you can use pre-cuts or she has even given alternate fabric requirements to do your own cutting and reduce your stash. There are also a few recipes tucked here and there too! My bucket list just got longer. You can order your autographed copy here!

I love Moda's precuts and wish that the Jo Morton line would come in charm packs and jelly rolls. I've got a Schnibble addiction and want them made in Jo fabrics. I also have quilts that I want to make that only need 2.5" strips. These are more the colors in my home. Yes, I stray with the new lines of fabrics coming out but then I always come back to my favorites so I'm making my own charms and jelly rolls.
Several of you may be stripping your stash into strips. Why not make 5" squares as well? My girlfriend Dana is also stripping her stash and making turnovers. It's a thought!

I love that free swirl quilting! Gorgeous! That's a beautiful quilt! I love making 5" squares and some strips of my stash! But I have too many projects going to work on that now!

If I hadn't won the gift certificate from Kelly at Cotton Charm Quilts, I was going to make my own charm squares and jelly rolls, too. I love Moda fabrics but not JUST Moda fabrics. I still have 2 other Schnibbles patterns to make.

What beautiful quilting. One day, my dream is to quilt like that, one day. I've peeked at that book and does look terrific, so great things to make in it. Can't wait to see what you make first!

I love those Jo Morton fabrics as well. My first intro to them was in a kit but you are right, precut charms would be wonderful. Perfect for Schnibbles.
The Hot Cross looks wonderful!

Beautiful swirly quilting :-)

I wish Jo Morton and others would come in pre-cuts, as well.

Your quilting is gorgeous.I am surprised Andover hasn't come up with some kind of precut. Especially since Jo does all those small patterns.

Your stack of squares is so neat and so my style of fabric!

There is alot of stripping going on out there!! That books looks like one that would be very useful for those of us who are afraid to rip into their jelly rolls.

I love the Schnibbles! Great quilting.

Thank was so nice of Kimberly to send you the autographied copy of the book! I can't wait to see what you make first.

BTW- I hate to cut! I hate it more than anything else! I also wish that everyone would make precuts so we don't have to do it.

I love the swirls on your Hot Cross! I think I may have to make that quilt again using some of those springy lighter colors. It would be great if other fabric companies did pre-cuts. I also love Jo's fabrics and have a good stack of them. Will have to pull some of them for my stripping and charming too. Are all of those in that stack, Jo's fabrics? Will have to look for Kimberly's book. Can't wait to see what you make out of it.

It is even more pretty now... :o) Love it..:o)
Kimberlys book looks just wonderful... Good luck with the piles!!!

Gorgeous swirls! Maybe you should check if your LQS has an Accu-cutter or whatever they're actually called. Everyone I've heard from says it really is accurate, and a whole lot easier lol.

I always worry if I pre-cut stash into squares or strips that the fabric will be perfect for a pattern that calls for 4.5 strips or 6 inch squares cut in half. I've gotten a little braver about cutting scraps into strips and squares. Love your free swirl quilting - your quilt turned out so pretty!

Love that swirl look!! Maybe one day I...nooooo can't see me ever doing it that pretty!!
Looks like a wonderful book.
I do hate to cut as well...wish I could just buy the fabric then find someone else whom loves cutting to do it for me... hahah! Yes I am so slack.
A LQS does offer time on a accucutter but I have yet to try that.
Love the Jo Morton colors as well.

Ilove your swirly quilting! Your Hot Cross really turned out cute. Have fun with your new book~ it looks really interesting. I almost always cut my own strips and squares because the others aren't easy to find around me, and I want to use my stash. I have a lot of Jo Morton and CW FQ's waiting for a good project... or two.. or three.. LOL ;-)

Just beautiful love the soft colours and the quilting is amazing. Great job.

Of course your quilting is exquisite...as always!!! I do love to see close-ups of it. I have started cutting down leftovers into 5-inch squares and strips......instead of saving them (as I used to do). I looked at that cutter online but decided it was too pricey for me at this point. I know scrapbook places often let people pay a small amount to use their cutters...I wish quilt shops would do that, too, with the AccuCutters I've seen online. (Maybe some of them do.....but not the ones here.)

I love your shnibbles finish! I think I am definitely going to have to buy that pattern. Your charms and strips are stacked so perfectly!! AND they don't have those annoying pinked edges like the packaged ones! LOL Great idea to cut your stash like that so they are ready to go!

Can you tell me what kind of machine you use to do your quilting? I am dabbling with the idea of getting some kind of quilting machine and doing my own quilting. Your work is beautiful

Mary, beautiful swirl machine quilting. And after reading your post I have to go and order that string book...I just decided I am not going to make another new year's wish where I am not going to buy another book.

Lovely quilt! The swirls are perfect for it! I've been cutting my own charm squares lately. It really is a fun way to use stash. I have so much fun finding sets to work together. I think a Schnibbles in Jo fabrics will be divine. Can't wait to see what you put together!
