Pink Paisley Park

A few weeks back I was a lucky winner of a $30 gift certificate to anything on Judi's website, Green Fairy Quilts. I didn't post about it because I wanted to show how I spent it. Judi's website has jelly rolls, yardage, kits and her very own pattern line! It was mind boggling on just how to use my certificate and then I spotted it; Judi's pattern kit called, "Paisley Park." I applied my gift certificate towards this gorgeous pink quilt! When I saw this kit I immediately thought of somebody who I will make it for. Because I want it to be a surprise I won't say who.
Please go visit Judi at Green Fairy Quilts and waste no time if you would be interested in winning not just one but how about 12 of her patterns!

Variety Post

Earlier in the week I got to know my "magical voice" friend on the phone. We could have easily chatted all day. Her quilt top was on my longarm this week.

My friend Dana who I posted about in previous post sent a wonderful package. I received not only her tops to be quilted but a "sampling" of Dana's wool and 30's scraps she gave me. Thank you so much Dana! I think I may have enough for the 30's quilt I have in mind and now no excuses for not having wool variety!

Pathetic. I'm just pathetic. Here is what I've worked on and it still isn't finished. Life just got real busy with all else. I received some emails asking where I was....much appreciated. The week got away and now Memorial Day weekend. Enjoy yours!

Primitive Elegance Blog Friend

Let me introduce to you may friend Dana. We met years ago while stationed in Germany. Her needle turn applique is amazing and quilts not to me missed. I noticed she hasn't posted for a bit. Would you go on over and ask her to show us more of her work? While there you can see some quilts that will be in my home soon. Shucks no, not mine to keep! She is a wonderful friend that has trusted me to quilt her quilts. Thank you Dana.

Blogging Friends Are Simply The Best!

Karen has been sharing with us her AMAZING never-ending-closet of quilt tops. Everytime she posted I'd rush right over because I knew she wouldn't disappoint and I could just sit in awe at just how many quilt tops she has made. This box arrived for me with six quilt tops to be quilted. Karen no longer wants them and I'm free to quilt them and do as I please. I see a few going to charity....but I see one or two that I just have to keep from my wonderful blogging friend. Thank you Karen...you are a true treasure!

Janet and I emailed back and forth awhile back and out of the blue she asked for my address saying she had something for me. I asked if she was kidding? Look at my surprise box that came today and my birthday isn't until December! She sent this little bunny and a pattern! I tell ya, my blogging friends are absolutely wonderful! Thank you Janet!

Also I want to give a big shout out to thank everybody who has sent me fish scraps. You can see my plea here. I'll take a photo of the fabrics I've been collecting soon. This is going to be one awesome fish bowl quilt thanks to my blogging friends and the lurkers who have emailed me outside of the blog for my address. Once again, you are simply the best!

I whipped this quilt up yesterday. JUST TEASING!! Shirley (no blog) and I went to my favorite quilt shop today and I can report I was good and did some serious hand slapping only purchasing some background neutral at $4 per yard on sale to make this quilt. I think I own a piece of just about all the other fabrics in the quilt. This was the shop sample and the pattern was sold out. It is Miss Rosie's Quilt Company's "Quiet Time" pattern. I'm on a hunt for a copy of it now.

Shirley's Help (Love My Kitties!)

As soon as I saw Wendy's basket quilt I remembered that I too had started this project. My baskets had been stitched but set aside. Over the weekend I squared up my basket blocks and put together this little top. Today I marked the lines to embroider the borders.

My no-blog friend Shirley has two awesome hairless cats. This was a fun surprise in my inbox this morning labeled, "Oh, I get by with a little help from my friends."

I'm heading to her house Wednesday for my kitty fix and to visit my favorite quilt shop.

My Own Book Review & Sneak Peek Reveal

These books arrived for me this week and are absolutely wonderful! Kim's book Scrap-Basket Surprises quilts were made from using nothing but 2 1/2" strips. The quilts are so my taste! I love it and haven't decided which of the 18 projects in the book to start. These projects are perfect for those who want to really bust some stash. I say start cutting your fabric into 2 1/2" strips!

Dawn's book is Geese in the Rose Garden. Isn't that cover gorgeous? Her book is a perfect project for appliquer's and piecers, alike, there is a gorgeous sampler quilt with six rose applique blocks and six variations on the pieced geese block. Wasn't that a catchy title for the book? Now I can handle a small amount of applique so this is perfect for me! When you open the book you see the beautiful quilt but oh my, wait until you see the border!

Last night my guys went to see Star Trek. Sorry, I'm just not a fan. I was perfectly content enjoying a quiet home and quilting.

My sneak peek is finished with exception of hand stitching down the binding. Love it!! This was a Schnibbles pattern using Harvest Home fabric.

Wishing all my friends and those who lurk a very Happy Mother's Day! Hugs to you!!

Interested In Older Books?

Apparently not in the order I intended and a photo turned on me too! *sigh*

These Watercolor and Colorwash Quilt Books are just sitting and I'll never use them. I want Kim Diehl's new book so I'm anxious to part with these. I don't really know what a fair price is for each book so I'm asking $10 each for book and will mail book rate. You can email me separate from blog comment area if you wish. I've also been known to barter! SOLD

Bummer, blurry photo below! Simply a sneak peek of my latest new project.

Indian Paintbrush quilt is now bound, washed and crinkled. It is a finish! Love it!!

The Perfect Answer

In answer to the question, How Many Quilts Is Enough?

You have enough quilts made when your soul is filled, your creativity satisfied and the fingers just won't work anymore.

Isn't that perfect stated? Thank you Latane Barton for touching my soul with your comment.

I came back and posted this comment so many of us quilter's will see it and feel just as I did when I read her comment. I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I did.

How Many Quilts Is Enough?

This is a must share that I've already told a few blog friends about but would love to hear your reaction. As I showed DH the latest quilt off the longarm he says, "Who's is that one?" I promptly told him mine. He looks at me, tosses a glance around the room and says, "Mary, don't you think we have enough?" Now I pose the question...how many quilts is enough? Are you laughing? If he only knew how many are on the bucket list!

As always I'm willing to share news about giveaways. This may be common knowledge to a few of you and others not. But every single day the Missouri Star Quilt Co. has a Deal of Day featured. They also have a free weekly giveaway. Did you know that? This week's freebie is a Recipe of Friendship charm pack. To enter the drawing go to the community section of the website. A question is usually asked for the weekly drawing, however this week all they want is a photo of your fabric stash. Here's my entry....I wasn't wasting time cleaning it up! This is a one side few of the walk in closet upstairs. Alot of the books you see are old...template days old!

Scrappy Quilt Back

I'm a believer that making a scrappy back is worth the trouble even though it felt as though I was making a whole other quilt! In my stash was the perfect fabric for the back; all four yards, it needed more. On the cutting table was leftovers from piecing the top and I DID pay good money for that fabric, so I pieced more stars with what I could and still added the two darker brown pieces on the sides to complete a back. Now to make and stitch binding down, a wash and dry for crinkle and I'll have a new quilt!
