Quilting At The Hollow

This top was donated to me by Karen many months ago. The outside border was to have been appliqued. Well, there was no way that I would get to all of that so I used a variegated King Tut thread called "Autumn" to quilt a large leafy border. Then some wind swirls for the inner border and an all-over botantical motif in the middle of the logs.

One gorgeous quilt. Thanks Karen!

Remember my shared scraps in previous post? These two Schnibbles "Dow Jones" quilts came from the Quilt for A Cause layer cake. One was quilted with feathers and the other with botantical flowers. I've just have the binding to stitch down on the one.

Earlier in my busy week I received this signature block from Jill at The Quilted Rat. Once again the photo turned and photo blurry (my fault). Thanks Jill for sending me your block for my quilt. Anybody is welcome to be part of my quilt by sending me a block.
Remember my giveaway a few days ago? Well, my runner up never came back for a visit and it has been several days. The winner chose the TB Autumn Medley pattern and the Christmas panel. The Ginger Cookie Quilt and Lap Patches patterns are back up for grabs! If interested, leave a comment and come back!! I won't say what day...could be tomorrow.

Lovely quilt, love the butter yellow and red against the black, makes the quilt "sing with color". Your quilting is lovely (as always).
Here's hoping I will win your give-away.

You certainly are a talent with your longarm, Mary. I have such admiration for your natural talent.

I have some beautiful variegated thread and you've given me some things to consider to use it soon. See - you're a "blog inspiration" and didn't even know it. LOL

Sewing hugs and blessings..always.

Love the quilting you did on Karen's quilt, Mary. The leaves in the border are awesome...just as nice as applique, methinks.

You amaze me with how creative you are with your scraps and what you come up with. And I love anything scrappy.

Thanks for sharing.

The fall quilt looks so good especially with the variegated thread used in the black border! A creative solution to not doing applique.

Love what you did with Karen's quilt. I have made it and just left the border off altogether because I knew that I would not get the applique finished. Your solution looks super -- really shows it off.
