Variety Posting Today Plus A GIVEAWAY!!!!

Are you interested in a Pay It Forward? I posted about this a few post ago and already have my three PIFs. Sherry is in need of just one more participant so I told her I would spread the word on my blog. If you are interested please contact her.

You have been absolutely wonderful sending me fish scraps! They are arriving in the mail now and it looks like I will have a good variety for my fish bowls. I've got lots of bowls to make and have been asking for 8 1/2" squares of scrap. If you can spare a square of fish scrap or even something aquarium related (coral, seahorses, shells) let me know.

Indian Paintbrush is sitting and waiting for backing. *SIGH* In my stash is the perfect backing, all four yards and I need five! Darn it!! Today has been spent making several more stars similiar to the ones in the quilt and using the leftover scraps for a pieced back. I'm nearly down to slivers of scrap from the leftover fabrics. I'm on a mission and will get this quilted!

Are you aware of these Shout Color Catcher sheets? Use them! Do you see the dingy gray in comparison to the crisp white sheets? I tossed three sheets in with this quilt for good measure.

I do not prewash my fabrics unless I have something questionable that I feel will bleed and I certainly wouldn't prewash honey buns, jelly rolls, charm packs, turnovers, etc and so forth. Who does? I think that would be a big mess.

Dawn is giving away a copy of her NEW book!!! I don't really want to tell you because it makes the odds of my winning whittle away. But I do get a couple of points for sharing the news and because Dawn is a sweetie I'll share the news. Oh....if you go over tell her Quilt Hollow says hi (maybe she'll give me extra points!)

Please check my side bar for two more giveaways added today!! I'm ever so grateful if you tell them I sent you over. In addition, it got me thinking for those who do tell them I sent you on these giveaways ... one of you may just get a little surprise from me to say thank you!!

In addition, my friend at Primitive Elegance (listed on my side bar) posted several of her gorgeous tops. Stop in and say hello...she is a new blogger!

I love Shout Color Catchers...I always wash my quilts with them...usually throw in 2 sometimes 3 and they come out pretty dingy...imagine that color floating around and latching on to your quilt...ICK! They are so worth the money. I'm looking forward to seeing your backing.

Hey, I have a square of fabric that would look great for a fish bowl and I also have one more opening on MY Pay It Forward. Anyone interested can stop by my blog.

Thanks for sharing the information on the Color Catchers. I've always been obsessive about pre-washing. Maybe I'll give these a try and spend more time on the fun stuff!

I've never used the color catchers...but will check them out. I just went to Dawn's blog and told her I found her from YOU. :)

I've never used those but I want to try them. I keep forgetting when I got to the grocery store. You know that's a hard chore for me! whine, karen, whine

Happy you're receiving the fabrics you need for the fishbowls. That's exciting to me. I look forward to seeing that come to life.

I use the color catchers as well, I bought them because of red that bleeds, they work great. What's a fishbowl quilt?

Mary, I looked for fish fabric and could not find any. Just let us know if you need more fish fabric.

I just love the Shout color catchers. Your sheet did catch up a lot of excess dye...aren't you glad you used a sheet. I use the sheets in my laundry too.

Thanks for the post Mary. Looks like you will win the popularity prize for sure.

I've never used the shout color sheets, but might have to try them.

Just to let you know, I DO prewash all my fabrics, so the ones I sent you have been pre-washed. I hope that won't mess you up.

I need to try the shout color catchers, what an amazing difference they make. Thanks for the laughs, loved the "cereal killer."

I wouldn't wash without those little beauties!! I wash my CW prints only because I swap with those a lot and most swapper pre-wash. But I don't wash anything else, and never those things you mentioned. I washed a quilt the other day and 2 catchers caught every drop of loosey goosey red dye floating around!!

Thanks for the tip about the Color Catchers. I had no idea. I don't prewash, either. I too excited to start to take the time. Now to get something finished so I can throw it in the wash. I'm almost finished with one now! A little more quilting, then the binding. BTY, Did you see how many people referenced you at the fabric giveaway!?

Hi - I checked my stash and the only fish fabric I have left is Dolphins - it's predominately blue. Would you like it?

Stina said...

Oh my gosh so many new blogs I have found through you... and I sure have mentioned you on ALL of them...:o)

I prewash all my fabric, even charm packs. No problem. I decided not to prewash my (one and only) Jelly Roll. Nothing good could come of that. :)

Hi Mary, I don't prewash my fabric either, might pay for it one day. The Shout Color Catchers are great.

Thank you for sharing all the giveaways going on.

Those Color Catcher sheets are worth their weight in gold! I never have the proper amount of backing fabric, either... you could always piece one, like the Queen of Quiltville always does!

How great that people are sending your "fishy" fabric.

I love the color catches, Mary! They are especially great when washing new jeans! I bought another one that is good for 20 washes recently, but you can't put it in the dryer, so I'm trying to figure out how I want to use it! So glad you're getting fish fabric - I couldn't find any in my unpacked stash!
Cheers!

Your fish fabric will go out on Monday...I didn't get to the post office before I left town...so, please forgive me! I love the color catchers...and I'd never known about them except for someone posting about them on their blog!

Thought you might be interested in something I have used to wash "questionable" jellyrolls, buns, etc. If you unwrap them and put them into a lingerie bag it can be tossed into the washer AND the dryer! The bag keeps them from unraveling and the colorcatchers can work their magic. This works!
