Pondering The Holiday Birthday

A few days ago I posted about my December birthday and the fact I don't much care for it during this month because the merriment is all about Christmas; granted Jesus' birthday is the reason for the season. I'm envious of birth dates during the long lazy days of summer. Well, as it turns out I received several emails from other bloggers having December birthdays and they too had stories to tell. Christmas wrapped birthday to Christmas ornaments as birthday gifts....ah the list goes on!

We met up with friends last night and the subject of December births was brought up. His birthday is in January and he said that the month just after the holidays is just as bad because nobody has money and the credit card bills show up. I had also heard this from another blogger with a January birthday.

I had a blogger ask if we might have a special birthday exchange for these months. is a thought and possibly something to consider. What do you think? Leave a comment with your birthdate and ideas if you have them.

One of my blogging friends, Judy celebrates her birthday today. Happy Birthday to you!

We had an enjoyable day Christmas and I wanted to share this quilted bag I received as one of my presents from Claire. Thank you spoil me.

How nice of Claire to think of you during this busy time of year and make such a nice bag. It is lovely.

My suggestion would be to move your birthday to a day that is earlier in Dec, before all the excitement of Christmas starts. Pick a day and stick with it, it's your day and no Christmas allowed. Claire must be a sweet friend to give a wonderful birthday present at this busy time of year.

yep--my birthday is the 29th, my sister's is the 26th, my SIL's is the 28th. My Mom was pretty good about totally separating Christmas and our birthdays, what I didn't like was that I had to go a WHOLE year before any more gifts! and now it's worse, Christmas, my BD, Valentine's Day and my Anniv. is all within 2 months and then I have to wait all year. one year my sis and I decided to celebrate our birthdays on our 1/2 yr. birthday, but that was totally weird! So we didn't do that again. I wish I had a great answer, but I don't. It's nice of your friend to remember your birthday separately. Happy Birthday anyway! :) and all of us December babes are with ya!

Happy Anniversary!

My parent's 48th wedding anniversary is tomorrow. My granddaughter's birthday was December 21 and mine was the 10th. Sharing our special days with holidays is...special. I figure I'm old enough now that I don't celebrate a birth DAY I celebrate my birth SEASON, it's called Winter. ;o)

Our friends had a daughter born on Dec. 26. When she got old enough to understand birthdays (but not old enough to understand the economics of why her friends' parents didn't have b'day present money at that time of the year), her parents decided to have a HALF birthday party for her every year on June 26. (I see someone else on here did that and didn't like it, though.) It was a novelty for this girl and her friends and worked out very well!!! She would make up invitations that said, "Come to my 8 1/2 year-old party" and stuff like that. It was really cute!
