Emergency Posting To All My Friends

Dear blogging and non-blogging friends,

Most of you know that my father is dying from cancer. I received word from my sister a few hours ago that I needed to get there because they weren't sure that dad was going to make it for my planned visit two weeks from now.

It is doubtful that I will have access to a computer but will try. I apologize in advance for not responding to email and comment post. My return ticket is still set for 14 December.

Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Show, Share and Pattern Winner Announced

Night & Day quilt finally has the binding stitched down. I had every intention to finish this earlier in the week. Sometimes life's direction goes the opposite way in which we intended and this past week let's just say the hits just kept on coming. Things are getting much better again....whew! This little quilt won't be living with hints!

I've been paper piecing and making small framed quilts. These won't be living here with me either.

Lucky number 27 wins the pattern giveaway I posted last weekend.
Cathi please send me your address and I'll get it in the mail to you!

Blogging Friends Are Some Of The Best!!!

Wendy's package arrived today! This is my very first blog swap package and I just love it all! A few months back we discovered each other's blogs and asked about doing a small quilt swap for November. My new little quilt is to die for! I remember commenting on her blog's post last August just how much I loved the stars and that border print.....little did I know one would come my way! But wait, there's more! She also sent a needle keeper she made complete with a tiny little rusty bell (love that added touch!), embroidery needles that I've had my eye on, a pattern and also holiday notepad.

I just started blogging this past summer after reading other quilter's blogs. I observed just how much fun they were having interacting and getting to know each other and then their exchanges of small quilts, pin cushions, needle keepers, fat quarters or whatever they wanted to create small surprises in the mail. Sometimes they were done secretively; one blogger would be the "ring leader" and match up the quilters. Blogs would post pictures of their latest quilts in progress and this kept me motivated in my own quilting. I especially love to see the newest lines of fabrics, patterns being used and not sitting in a opened up a whole new world to me and I decided to jump in and join the fun. I've enjoyed getting to know many who comment and regularly email me outside of the blog postings. Many of these new blogging friends have very similiar interest as myself making me wish we all could live in the same town and meet regularly for quilting, coffee, lunches, antiquing or whatever friendship allows.

So to the non-bloggers out there (and you all know who you are.....I've got at least 7 non-blogging friends who read me regularly!) consider joing in on the fun.

And to Wendy, thank you so very much!! I can't wait for you to receive yours so I could post the photos!!

There is still time to enter the drawing for the pattern. Please keep comments to the post below.

Giving Away A Pattern

Have you heard of Cotton-Theory Quilting? I purchased this pattern while living in England a few years ago from Patchwork-Corner. Since I've already made myself the pillow I really don't need to hang on to the pattern any longer. This giveaway is for the pattern only. Interested? Leave a comment by Friday, 21 November.

If you are a noreplyblogger or anonymous I cannot contact you if I pull your name. I noticed a few entries I have no way to contact you! Please be sure to send me a good email address separately if need be.

Dress Up Your Blog And Grab A Tissue!!

I may be a day late and a dollar short.....perhaps clueless? I'm still new to figuring out the blogging world. I can't be the only one, right? I've been seeing some very pretty blogs and kept wondering how can I do that. Well, I'm still getting it figured out and with help here.

Ok, mine isn't exactly pretty....but I was goofing around and trying different backgrounds. I'm giving myself a pat on the back for getting this far.

I haven't figured out how to place a You Tube video on so you could quickly click have pasted in the link to Reveille here. This plays just over 10 minutes and is worth every single minute....have a tissue handy.

Another Day In My Life....

I've talked about Meowzer in previous post and how he came to live with us rather than his own family. (I had tuna!) Well, my DH is allergic to him so he rarely gets to spend much time inside; though he does prefer to be outside with exception of rainy days. My DH was a sweetie and made this shelf on the garage window so Meowzer could see out when we put him in there at night. He is such a silly cat. I went out to the garage during the middle of this gorgeous day, the large door wide open to the world, and here sits Meowzer looking out his window!

I've started the quilting on my Night & Day quilt and should have the binding on by tomorrow. This is the plan anyway!
My friend Kimberly has posted a FREE mystery quilt. It is mentioned in about the middle of her homepage. Register your name and email address to have access to the first installment and details.
Thanks again to all well wishers with regards to my dad. He called me today and is out of the hospital. He sounds tired and weak but in good spirits considering. I've made flight reservations to visit him for a week in December.

Christmas Sparkler

Thank you to Marcie of Patchalot Patterns for sharing this free pattern with us bloggers. I needed something to keep me busy while I waited to hear from mom regarding my dad's health. I started this on Wednesday and finished that last stitch of binding last night just as the phone rang. It was mom with the news we've dreaded hearing. My father's cancer has spread rapidly and he has only 3 to 6 months. Please keep my family in your thoughts and prayers.

Annie Giveaway Alert!

This has got to be one of the cutest sites for Annies and she is having a giveway on her blog for these patterns! But wait there's more!!! She also has two free patterns to make your own Annies along with a great tutorial and other fun stuff.

I have finished the Christmas Sparkler quilt with exception of hand stitching the binding to the back. I'll post a photo just as soon as I take that last stitch! I want to say a big thank you to all well wishers who posted and also emailed me separately. Dad is still in the hospital; mom will call me this evening with an update.

Christmas Sparkler Helped Me Today

Wendy sent me a note this morning asking if I'd seen the Christmas Sparkler quilt pattern from Marcie offered as this year's gift to us bloggers. Yes, indeed I had and I also had the pages printed out. I'm proud to say that I've started it and have proof in the photo! Today I needed a diversion of sorts. My father hasn't been well for a very long time and his quality of life dimenishing daily. I'd been waiting to hear from my mom on the latest details; he went back into the hospital again yesterday. This pattern was just what I needed to work on today; it was easy so I was able to think about dad and times spent together. My wish, my prayer is for my father not to suffer anymore.

Slappy Turned 15 Today!

Happy 15th Birthday to my son #2 aka Slappy. I'm sure the highlight of his day was getting his driver's permit. The nickname Slappy was his idea many years ago after he watched a movie called, "Slappy and the Stinkers." Slappy was a seal. He was about 4 years old when he asked if I'd call him Slappy. It's a fond memory and his face was just so darned cute when he asked me. The name has stuck.

Pumpkin pie is what he ALWAYS request for his birthday.

Three Sites I Hope You'll Visit For Free Stuff

Just over a year ago I was the newsletter editor for our quilt guild. I had to search for "fillers" so that the newsletter would be filled. I've been sitting here deleting files from those newsletter days and came across this.

Also for the past few weeks I've been forwarding a fellow blogger Kim a bunch of freebie patterns that she has posted to the side bar of her website. Check them out for some easy and fun Christmas gift ideas. She has labeled the side bar "Wee Gifties." There are coasters, wallets, pillow cases, tissue box covers, just to name a few!

At this link you will find a really cool BOM mystery quilt that is coming to an end in December. Be sure to download and save! The option is yours as to what size quilt you want to make and the idea of each pattern block is a great idea so look closely! Of course, you wouldn't have known this back at the beginning of the BOM....but always fun no less! Here's your link to enjoy.
