Old to me but NEW to you

I've been asked by some of you to share what I consider my older quilts because they are new to you. I figure I'd better otherwise there wouldn't be much "new to me" to show you. I've been in the quilt studio this past week working on my Jo quilt. I'm now in the process of stitching down binding and will show it soon. Actually, I've been working on more than the Jo project but showing it would ruin the holiday surprise for my friend Claire. I love the unveiling I see on blogs. It is like a surprise to me to wait for the participants to receive their packages from swaps and then the quilt revealed!

This is a simple two-color pinwheel quilt with prairie points into the borders. I want to say I whipped this one up in two days...quilting and binding. But then I stayed in the quilt studio as the painters took over my house for these two days. This next quilt I saw in a magazine a few years back and finally got around to making it this past Fall. You notice a theme here with the colors of these quilts? When we finally settled into this house after living in rentals due to military moves, I chose the colors I wanted. The one thing that always drove me crazy was decorating for the holidays with the dusty old blue couch, pink curtains and awful floral carpeting (rental in England), etc. The past 20 something years I scoured over county decorating books and made mental notes of what I liked best. The one thing that I really enjoyed seeing were the homes that were decorated for the holidays where the couch, curtains or whatever else did not stick out like a sore thumb. These quilts I can leave out year round and they blend perfectly during the holidays. So with that said, I decorate the main level of my home with a Kim Diehl sorta look, or Jo Morton, perhaps civil war....anything tea dyed looks great! The quilts I have upstairs are still loved just more colorful? The quilt on the right is the all-time favorite that went around a few years back called "Bulls Eye". This was an absolute fun quilt to make and even easier when you exchange blocks with friends to get a real good mix of fabrics. Then the quilt on the left was a free pattern from Quilter's Cache. I want to say the block was called, "Flies in the Barn."

That's it for tonight. Until next time!

Oh yes, the life of a military renter *s* We lived in our home - yes, the one we bought, for nearly 5 years before it finally dawned on us that we could do whatever we wanted color-wise. Boy howdy . . . I've never looked back.
Your quilts would all fit in quite nicely around here.

I too know about military rentals! I can only dream of the day when I can truly decorate the way that I want to! Until then I will enjoy all of your lovely creations!

It's so interesting to see earlier quilts. I remember the Bullseye pattern and loved it at the time. Yours looks gorgeous, as do all the ones you've shown.

Beautiful quilts. I made one of those Bulleye quilts a few years back and it hangs in my sewing room. It is also one of my favorites for all the fabrics and the great way those circles fray as it's used. Thanks for sharing some of your old quilts/new to us.

Hugs - Karen

It took me a while to figure out how to decorate with my furniture, I now have neutral browns and antique furniture, it works wonderful with my primitive looking quilts and even my blended quilt. You have the same antique quilt stand as mine, my hubby added small hinges and there are 3 parts to it. I've made the bulls eye and the others you've done have been on my "someday" list for a long time. We have very similar taste in quilts.
